I choose Roger The Dog because the poets craft is silly and the metaphors he uses. I have a connection because I have days where I just want to sleep and eat. I have a connection with this because my dog is the exact same way.

I think that Roger the Dog should win because it has a deep meaning and it's about a lazy dog. I can connect to Roger the Dog by remembering what it was like to have a lazy dog and brother. The poet's craft was great in Roger the Dog. For example it uses couplets (You can roll him with your foot, but he'll stay snoring where he's put.)The poem also includes alliteration in flops flat and digs down deep. THe rhyme scheme gives this poem a nice beat. (AA BB) That's why I chose Roger the Dog

I connect with Roger the Dog because my dog is lazy too. I like the poet's craft of Roger the Dog because I like the Rhyme Scheme, it goes (aabbccddeeffgghh.)

ReplyDeleteI also enjoyed Roger The Dog because he reminds me of my old dog who was so lazy except when there was food out. I definitely have a deeper connection with Roger The Dog than choosing shoes.
The final reason I like this poem is the imagery. I can see a boy kicking this dog and the dog doesn't care at all. That is why I chose Roger The Dog.

ReplyDeleteI can connect to this poem because I have two dogs. There is no better pet than a dog. Roger and my dogs have some things in common and some not in common. For example, both my dogs and Roger are the best. One thing not in common is Roger is lazy and two dogs are not.
I like Roger The Dog's poet craft. While reading this poem I am able to keep an image in my head. I also like the rhyming scheme (AABBCC). I love this poem.

I think Roger the Dog should win because it is funny, and it has a meaning.I had a dog who was lazy and did all the same things as Roger.Exept for rolling in cowclap.In Roger the Dog there were a lot of good similes and metaphor like, He's just a sack of snoring dog,or You can lung him like a dog.It was funny when it said cowclap.

ReplyDeleteI was in a shoe store I wanted all the cool color shoes but my dad made me get plain old white shoes. I like how the poet's craft made the boy get the plain not good shoes because it always ends in a happy ending but in this story it did not end in a happy ending. That is why I vote for choosing shoes.
For the winner of the championship, I chose Roger The Dog. I chose Roger the dog because a funny cool poem. For example, it is funny because Roger is a fat and lazy and he does not like to exercise.

ReplyDeleteI have a connection to Roger the Dog because my cousin's cousin's dog very well feed and very lazy. His name is Harold.
The poet's craft that I enjoy the most is the metaphors and the similes. The Similes that I like are "like a minor and As if he were a loaf of bread."
I think Roger the Dog should win because it is easy to relate to and it teaches a valuable lesson. I can connect to Roger the Dog because sometimes I feel just like Roger. I just don't want to move or be productive at all. Also, it reminds me of my aunt and uncle's dog, Harry who is the spitting image of Roger. Something I enjoyed about Roger the Dog's poet's craft is that it used couplets to make the poem feel catchy. Also, it used similies and metaphors throughout the poem. For example, "He's just a sack of snoring dog." Another example is "You can lug him like a log." Finally, it had great imagery describing how Roger always sits by the fire and bakes his head as if it was a loaf of bread. That is why Roger the Dog is the winner.

I love the poet's craft in Roger the Dog. There are lots of similes and metaphors throughout the poem. An example of a simile is,he hogs the fire, he bakes his head as if it were a loaf of bread. Another one is, Then he flops down flat and digs down deep like A miner, fast to sleep.
A metaphor is he is a sack of snoring dog. There are also couplets in the poem like, He'll work as hard as you wish emptying his dinner dish.
I think the falling star had more meaning to me because I can make a deep connection.

ReplyDeleteI connect to Falling Star because when they saw the shooting star they wish they could see it again. I also do that but I have only saw one shooting star when I was 5. I want to see it again just like they do.
I think that Falling Star has beautiful imagery. I can really imagine myself outside in the warm wind about to watch the bright long star shoot across the sky. When it passes by me I want it to come again. I bet it was a beautiful star. I think Falling Star should win the championship. I hope you can agree with me.

ReplyDeleteI can make three connections with this poem. When I go shoe shopping with my sister she looks at all the shoes. The connection is my sister and the girl in the poem both do the same thing because girls do that when they go shoe shopping. Also me and my dad can't decide which shoes to pick.
I like Choosing Shoes' poets craft more than Falling Stars because Choosing Shoes has better words. Also I like the the rhyme scheme AAAB AAAB AAAB AAAB because I like the 3 rhyming lines then the last line rhymes with the next last line.

ReplyDeleteI connect to the poem because I like to sit at my window at night and watch the sky and the cars. Also, during the day I like to lay on the grass or the sand (depending on if we are at the beach or not) and watch the clouds. That's why I think The Falling Star should win.
I like the poets craft in The Falling Star. The rhyme scheme was AA BB CC. Also, the poet created imagery in my mind. I could imagine sitting at my window when a glowing star races across the sky lighting it up. I like shoes, don't get me wrong, but I think that The Falling Star should win the championship game of poetry madness.

Every time we watch the stars we always miss seeing one because we are all talking to each other and get distracted.

ReplyDeleteThe Falling Star has a connection with me because of once I was on a campout and playing with all of my friends then we saw the sun set and we all looked up at the stars. The Falling Star reminds me of that night.
I like the poet's craft better because of it uses rhyme scheme- I Saw a Star Slide down the Sky-and alliteration- sky, by hold, sold and on, gone (AABBCC) this is why I like THe Falling Star better than Choosing Shoes.

ReplyDeleteI also have a hard time picking shoes. There are so many good pairs to pick, but I always find the perfect pair. Me and the main character have a hard time choosing shoes.
I liked the rhyme scheme in the writer's craft. It also really showed not telled.
I think choosing shoes should win because it is fun to read. That poem was the easiest to connect to because it was a simple topic but meaningful poem. My favorite writers craft for the story is the rhyme scheme.
