I think Roger The Dog should be the winner of the championship. I connect to this poem because I really, really, really like dogs. I have a dog currently and I love her SO much. One day my mom asked me about what I wanted for my birthday. My response was “I want another dog.” I definitely have not decided on what I want to be when I grow up yet, but I have an interest in doing something with dogs. I also love funny poems. I like poems that can make me laugh inside or out loud. This poem definitely passed the test. I liked how there was a lot of imagery in this poem. An example of imagery was when the poem said, “He then flops flat and digs down deep like a miner into sleep.” I pictured him running to his bed and jumping on to it. I pictured him not waiting a second to get to sleep. In my mind he just ran over to his bed and went to sleep. There was also a rhyme scheme in this poem. The rhyme scheme was AABBCCDDEEFFGGHH. I think Roger The Dog should be the winner of Derck’s class poetry madness.
