Read Game 7 poems. Answer each question below. Remember to explain WHY you chose the winner based on poet's craft (rhyme, line breaks, punctuation, simile/metaphor, word choice, repetition) AND your personal connection to the meaning. Don't forget to write with M.I.N.T.S.!
Your post needs to include the following:
1. What is the meaning of the first poem? (Summarize in one sentence)
2. What is the meaning of the second poem? (Summarize in one sentence)
3. Based on the criteria, which poem did you choose and WHY?
Here is an example of a proficient blog post:
The first poem, Do you Carrot all for me?, is about someone expressing their feelings in vegetables.
The second poem, The Castle in the Fire, is about a knight who saves a princess.
I picked The Castle in the Fire because it had more detail, it is a story, and it also has alliteration. For example, the author says, "Then, while we watch in wonder." That's why I chose The Castle in the Fire.
The first poem, Life Doesn’t Frighten Me is about a person who isn’t scared of anything such as sharks in the ocean or strangers at weird places.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Someone is about a girl hears knocking and she looks but nothing is in front of her or in the front yard.
I chose Someone because it’s really nice and it has really good detail and I noticed that there was AABBCCCC. I also picked this because I love a mystery poem. Sometime she will have to find out who that is...
I think the main idea of the poem Some One is about a boy that heard someone knock at the door but when he came to look no one was there and all he heard was the still dark night.
ReplyDeleteI also think the meaning of Life doesn't frighten me at all is that a little boy is saying that nothing scares him and that he is the most brave person in the world.
I choose for my favorite poem Someone because I like the way he rhimes and how he thinks someone is there but no one really is because he is probably home alone . That is the way I feel when I am home alone because my house creaks a lot
The first poem Life Doesn't Frighten Me, is about a kid who isn't afraid of anything, because she has a special charm.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem Some One, is about someone who doesn't have a lot of money, and someone came to the door, knocked, and ran away.

chose Some One, because it is a great poem with great personification. For example, it said only the crickets whistling, and the beetle tap tap tapping on the wall. I think the author did a great job on this poem.

DeleteLife Doesn't Frighten Me is about a person who describes all of the things in life that does not frighten her.
ReplyDeleteSome One is about someone knocking on his door and he found out that the animals and insects made the noise.
I like Some One better because first off it has amazing personification. For example, "The crickets whistling". Crickets can't whistle. Another is "the beetle tapping in the wall". Beetles can't tap walls. I love it's meaning about sound. SOME ONE ROCKS.
That's a great blog post I like how you used personification.
DeleteThe first poem, Life doesn't frighten me at all is about someone saying how they are not scared of anything.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Some One is about someone that heard a knock on their door but when they go to the door to check who was their nobody was there, not even a bug.
Out the two poems I choose Life doesn't frighten me. I choose this poem because I really enjoyed how they were saying how they were scared of nothing. But that is not the only reason I like this poem, another reason was that I really enjoyed how long the poem was and I thought it was funny. That is why I choose this poem.
The first poem life doesn't frighten me is about a person who isn't afraid of anything. The second poem some one is about a very poor person who someone knocks on his door and he opens it and nothings there.
ReplyDeleteI liked some one because I think it has great meaning and it was touching. The rhyme scheme was AABBCCCC

The first poem, Life does not frighten me, is about a kid who is not afraid of anything. He is not afraid of dragons, snakes, or strangers in the dark because he has magic charm.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Some One, is about someone is alway there. A cricket a beetle a owl could be there, but he can never see it.
I think the winner is, Life does not Frighten me. I think it is the best because it is very interesting and detailed. It also rhymes which I think makes it more good.
Some, one is about a man who hears someone at his door but when he goes to see what it is nobody was there.
ReplyDeleteLife doesn’t frighten me is about the author saying that she is not afraid of life.
My choice for game #7 is Some, one because I like the rhyme scheme pattern ABAB ABCB. I also liked it because it was easy to understand. My last reason for liking it is because I could imagine it in my head.
The first poem, Life doesn't frighten me is about a person who is saying a lot of stuff that frightens him.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Some One is about a person who lives in a house with a small door. One day someone knocks on the door he opens it to see who's outside, but knowone is there. It had nice similies.
I choose Life doesn't frighten me as the winner because it had a deeper meaning. It's telling you life shouldn't frighten you. It had nice simil
The first poem, Some One, is about a little family and someone knocks at their door but they couldn't find out who it was.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Life Doesn't Frighten Me, is about a person that isn't afraid of anything and is always prepared for whatever is coming to him next.
I choose the poem, Some One, as my favorite, I liked it because it reminded me about a little mouse family that can't figure out who knocked at their door. The rhyme scheme is A B A B C D E D. It also had very good onomatopoeias like, "Only from the forest The screech-owl's call." I could picture every line in this poem in my head.
The first poem, Some One, is about a little girl who lives at a cottage and someone came knocking at her door. Walter De La Mare explains that “she looks outside and only sees the busy beetle tap tapping on the wall, only from the forest the screech-owl’s call, and while the dewdrops fall, so I not who came knocking at all, at all, at all.”
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Life doesn’t frighten Me, is about someone telling Maya Angelou, “Life doesn’t frighten me at all. Not the shadows on the wall or the noises down the hall. Bad dogs barking loud, big ghosts in a cloud, life doesn’t frighten me at all.”
My favorite poem is Some One. This is because of I like how the author explains the story by using fun words like Tap-tapping, Wee, small door, and dewdrops. Although the poem doesn’t have any similes, the cool words make it fun and different. These are the reasons why I like Some One better.
I think Life doesn’t Frighten Me is about a child that is saying that life doesn’t frighten him or her. But the child is frightened by on thing his dreams.
ReplyDeleteI think Someone is about a person who went to get the door because someone was there. The man was describing the person at the door. The man was also talking about what was happening at the moment.
I choose Someone as the winner because, it was really nice. Here are some onomatopoeia word I found in the poem: stirring, tapping/tap, screech, whistling, knocking. I noticed that there is not really a great rhyme scheme in the poem.
Someone, is about a person whose door bell gets rang. he goes to the door and opens it. No one is there. only the crickets and owls. He never knew who ding dong ditched him.
ReplyDeleteLife Doesn't Frighten Me, is about someone who isn't afraid of life. He isn't afraid of anything. He is very brave.

̿̿ ̿̿ ̿'̿'\̵͇̿̿\з= ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀) =ε/̵͇̿̿/’̿’̿ ̿ ̿̿ ̿̿ ̿̿
My favorite poem was Some One, because the rhyme scheme is not very great but it is still a good poem, and that shows that it does not take a good poet to write a poem.
The first poem, Life doesn't Frighten Me, is about a girl who isn't afraid of life. The second poem, Some One, is about someone who who came knocking on this person's door but no one was there. I choose Life Doesn't Frighten Me. I think the pattern is AABAAB. I like it because I love how the little girl is so confident about life. I think this poem is really good. I hope it wins!:)

That is why I chose this poem.
The first poem, Some One, is about someone ding-dong-ditching somebody else.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Life Doesn't Frighten Me, is about a girl explaining how she isn't afraid of anything in the world.
I chose Life Doesn't Frighten Me as the winner because the message of the story was really neat. Also, it had repetition throughout the whole story. It used the rhyme scheme A,A,B. Finally, the author used real life situations to describe how she was not afraid of anything. That is why Life Doesn't Frighten Me won.
The first poem, life doesn't frighten me, is about someone saying that nothing can frighten them, not ghosts or scary people. The character also says that scary animals or noises down the hall doesn’t frighten them either.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Someone, is about a boy who thought that someone came knocking on the door and he was so sure of it but when he opened the door, there was no one, just animals and insects.
For the winner I chose life doesn’t frighten me. I chose this because it has lots of repetition, like it says life doesn’t frighten him in almost every sentence. It also has onomatopoeia, like it says, “ I go BOO , make them SHOO .” The rhyme scheme is mainly a,a,a,b,b,a,c,c,a,d,d,a, and so on. It also has some alliteration, like, “ Lions on the loose.” or,” Mean old Mother goose.” Overall, I liked this poem a lot.

The second poem, Some One, is about a man who someone knocks at his door there is no one but the empty night at the door!
(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ POETRY IS EPIC!ヽ(◕ヮ◕ヽ)
I chose Someone as the winner because I can relate to that. One time on Halloween someone ran up to my door and then retreated, but thankfully he left a bag of treats on my doorstep. I also like the onomatopoeia such as tap and
whistle. It also has a nice rhythm.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem is about a boy that ding dong ditches people. It make me be glad I wasn't those people.
I vote for, Life Doesn't Frighten Me because it is like FNAF and some others video games. It is really cool that the boy is not afraid of anything (baloney) he has to have a frer. That is why I vote for FNAF I meen Life Doesn't Frighten Me
