Counter Argument: TV
Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Children should be able to have a T.V. in their room.

Although children should be able to have a T.V. in their room, some parent say worried that their kids may watch to much T.V. For example, there are some really addicting shows on T.V. However, kids CAN NOT BE BORED! Kids can get really cranky. Kids should be able to have a T.V. in their rooms because they are AWESOME!!

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think that children should be able to have a T.V in their room, some people might think that it is a bad idea, for example... some people think that it will cost too much money but you don't need to buy an "25 in" flat screen plasma T.V you can just buy a "12 in" T.V and you can turn the power off and keep the remote so that the kid doesn't stay up all night watching T.V
ReplyDeleteAlthough some people think kids should have TV in their room. Some may argue that it is bad for them to have a TV in their room. For example, it is bad for their brain. However, kids will want some entertainment in their room. I think that kids don't need a TV in their room.
ReplyDeleteAlthough children should have a T.V. in their room, some may argue that they should not. For example, if you watch too much it may not be that healthy. However, watching T.V. is fun!!! Some children's parents may want them too have a T.V. in their room.

DeleteAlthough, I think children should be able to have a TV in their room, some may argue that they should not. For example a TV in your room is really tempting to watch and it's bad for your eye's to watch to much TV. However, if you watch a reasonable amount of time and it isn't tempting it's OK sometimes. If I had a choice I would say children should have a TV in there room.
ReplyDeleteI think that children should have T.Vs in their rooms because then there would be no fighting over the remote. However some may disagree because they think their child will never come out except to eat. Well, This is not entirely true. They would spend more time in their room, but that could sometimes help. What if parents are trying to talk without the child in the room. You don't want them sneaking around and listening to your conversation do you? Well they could go in their room and watch T.V. Also, What if someone in the house is at the T.V and watching something that your child does not like? You don't want them fighting over the remote do you? Those are just some of the reasons that kids should have T.Vs in their room.
ReplyDeleteAlthough i think children should have a TV in there room some people might say they should not. For example some they might think kids might not concentrate on there homework or they might stay up late watching the TV. However the TV is very good for listening to music while doing work, it even might help lull you to sleep! I think having a TV in your room is a pretty good idea!

DeleteAlthough children should not be able to have a TV, some may argue that they should. For example, you can fall asleep to a movie in your room. However you can put a TV in your playroom. Children should not be able to have a TV in their room
ReplyDeleteAlthough children should have a T.V in their room, some may argue that they shouldn't . For example, instead of doing homework they may just watch T.V, or they may watch T.V when they are supposed to go to bed, also maybe their eyes will pop out of their head because of watching it to much. However if someone is already watching the T.V downstairs and they want to watch T.V, they can watch T.V in their room, Also if if the family T.V isn't working, you can use theirs. And they can listen to music if they radio isn't working. ALL children should have a T.V in their room!!!!

Although children should be able to have a T.V. in their room, some may argue that they should not. For example some would rather read then waste their time on T.V. However, some may like T.V. better because it is fun to watch. Children should be able to have a T.V. in their room cause it is entertaining.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I want a TV in my room some may argue that you should'nt have a TV in your room.for example you might watch TV to much so you get in trouble. however,it's more helpful if you have a TV in your room because instead of going down stairs you watch TV in your bed. I wish I had a TV in my room.

But kids are very responsible so they would not to watch to much and do there homework first. I think it is okay for kids to have a T.V in there room

For example it could rot your brain if you watch too much, you could watch it until like 11:00, and you could watch it instead of doing homework. However, most kids don't do that you could watch T.V. if you can't fall asleep, you could have it as a reward after doing all your homework, and you could watch when your really board. I think that I made really good points about why you should have a T.V. in your room.

TV also lets you relax and have fun. Also, TV can take you on a magical adventure. There are many ways that kids should be able to have a TV in their room than read a book.

However a T.V. can tell you about the weather or if anything happened you need to know about. I think children should have a T.V. in their room because it is a great source of information.

That way, kids can watch the History Channel to help with homework. I think children should have a T.V. in their room so they can do homework while watching T.V.!!!!!!!!!

Now yes kids may stay up all night watching t.v, but if you make rules that you will check on them they will take responsibilities and not watch it! For example I have a t.v in my room, and my mom says to me don't stay watching t.v or else there will be consequences. Now guess what I don't stay up watching t.v because my mom made rules. I think children should have a t.v in there room because we can handle it!

For example, some people may think they might search for inappropriate things, or they might get too addicted.Or, they have studied that brain waves move smaller than reading a book. Also, if you watch "late night TV", you can only go to bed in another hour! However, hair-brushing might have one less "ow" in the morning. Also, they can check if the weather is OK to go outside. Also, some may think that we waste our time watching TV, but sometimes, we can watch educational things! I think that children should have a TV in their room because they can keep you entertained.

Although I think that children should have a T.V. in their room, some may argue that a book for children to read whould be better. I think if chidren had a T.V. in their they wouldn't only watch their favorite show but they would use it wisely.For example: maybe to check the weather t see if it was hot or cold if they had to go somewhere that day. Or to check a certain chanel that your mom may be desprate to watch. That is why I think children should have a T.V in their room.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think that children should have a T.V. in their room some may argue that it would not be a good idea for example it might not be the best thing for some one's child however i think that children should have a TV in there room because they can check the whether to see what they should were in the morning that's why I think children should have a TV in there rooms!!!

For example, they think it will rot there brain if there children watch to much TV. I think the parents should at least let them watch it a little. For example, some children should just sit back and relax because some children are tired of doing reading right after they do there homework.
ReplyDeleteAlthough children should be able to have a TV in their room some may think that they shouldn't. for example some kids might watch TV late at night when everyone's asleep and know one would know. Also You could pretend your doing your homework but really be watching TV. You could also watch stuff your parents don't want you to watch and know one would know. However you could watch in your room instead of watching in the family room and your dad could watch the news in the family room. You could also watch TV in your bed and it would be more comfortable than sitting on a couch. Also you wouldn't disturb anyone because you're in your room. I think you should have a TV in your room instead of not having one in your room!

DeleteAlothogh children should have a T.V. in there room, some parents may argue not. For example they would be afraid that there children would be watching a Rated R movie at 12:30 in the night. Also they think we'll watch all day. Although why would we watch T.V. for such along time (I don't even watch T.V!) That's why children should have a T.V in there room.
