Dear Readers,
As an avid reader, I often find myself finishing a great book or an interesting article, and desperately wanting to share my thoughts with someone. When I lived in Indiana, I was lucky enough to have a group of friends who shared a passion for reading, so we formed a book club. While I am not in the same city as my book club anymore, I still reach out to my friends and family in Nashville, to discuss my questions and opinions about literature.
As a classroom of learners, we have created a community geared toward having a teachable spirit, so we may grow to become people of knowledge, wisdom, and ultimately character. One way we do this is by reading and forming ideas and connections that begin to shape us. In order to support this work, this blog will serve as a way to discuss various things when we are not in the class. Essentially, the blog will become a virtual classroom.
For example, I might post about a response about Thank You, Mr. Falker by explaining my connection to the character, Trish. I might say how much I relate to her overcoming an obstacle with the help of a teacher and how motivated I was to find out the author was the one who overcame her learning hurdle and became a published author. You will have the same chance to post your reactions, but also, to respond to what someone else might say. In this way, our posts become a conversation when we are away from the classroom.
As we begin this online blogging adventure, I challenge you to bring your working minds to the keyboard and let me know your thoughts and feelings about literature. We have so much to discover ...
So, join the community! Come on in, pull up to a computer, let me know your thoughts about literature and our blogging opportunity. I believe the blog will be a wonderful opportunity for our class to communicate in a unique way.
Literature is an important part of my life because I enjoy getting lost in a story and having friends recommend books to me. Also, I love talking about the books I have read. I am interested in learning more about the part literature plays in your life and who is a character you have made a strong connection to and why.
Write about the following in your comment below:
How is literature a part of your life?
Who is a character that you have made a strong connection with and why?
Love,
Mrs. Eads

A book is a part of my life, because in a book you can learn what problems a character is facing. Another reason why a book is part of my life is because books can help you have a picture in your mind about something your character is enjoying. A character that makes a strong connection with me is Alex from Skinny Boones, because Alex gets bullied like me when I was in third grade and everybody made fun of my because I wasn't really good at some stuff.

At the bus stop to go to school one morning he got punched in the face by someone named Dana Matterson. Roy doesnt like this town much. On the T-V there was a commercial for Mother Paula's Pancakes. But Roy discovers something about were there building Mother Paulas. There’s endangered animals living underground. Roy has to save them! If you like books with cliffhangers than you should read Hoot.

My favorite book I've ever read was Peanuts by Schultz. It is an amazing graphic novel. I fell in love with it because their are so many good graphics and the characters are so funny. One of the characters is the one and only Charlie Brown, but my favorite is Snoopy. He has a great imagination. That is why he is my favorite character. Finally, the setting is in this small little fun town. Charlie Brown’s friends are the reason I love that book.

“Who has seen the wind” is about how no one has seen the wind but knows where it has been. I think the author is trying to tell you about the wind and getting are thought going.
ReplyDelete“If” is about a mom or dad telling the kid to stay true to himself, and if someone is doubting you keep trying.
I pick Who has seen the wind because I like how rhyme scheme a,b,c,c,b. I found the word trembling hard but good for the poem. Liked it because it talked about the wind and where it has been.

The Castle in the fire is about a night saving a princess and the night defeats the dragon. I like the word play in this poem.
ReplyDeleteDo you carrot all for me? Is about a boy who has feelings for a girl. And expresses it through food.
I pick Castle in the fire because I like the rhyme schemes. For example A,B,C,B .like the imagery. For example when it said “Riding away together the lady and the night.I could imagine it.

“Roger the Dog” means more to me. I really like dogs and like to read about dogs. Also I love fat dogs and love having a pet dog.
ReplyDelete“Roger the Dog” reminds me of my dog Tucker, because he loves to eat and is lazy. My dogs hate to exercise so they are not in the best shape.
“Who Has Seen the Wind” has many writers' crafts. For example when it says “trees bow down their heads.” Is personification because trees don't really bow down their heads. The writer also uses repetition. For example it says “who has seen the wind” 2.
My winner is Roger the dog because I love lazy and cute dogs.
