Your post needs to include the following:
1. What is the meaning of the first poem? (Summarize in one sentence)
2. What is the meaning of the second poem? (Summarize in one sentence)
3. Based on the criteria, which poem did you choose and WHY?
***Please tell me everything you think, but use your best writing.
Here is an example of proficient writing:
The first poem, Who has Seen the Wind, is about how no one can see the wind, but you can feel it. Especially when the trees bow down, and that is when you know that the wind is there.
If~ is about a dad giving his boy advice. For example, if he does all things like "don't look too good or talk too wise," then he will be a man no matter what.
I chose If~ as the winner because it had a deeper meaning, and it has a good rhythm. The rhyme scheme was AAAABCBC, and it gave the poem a good beat. The author used repetition to emphasize the meaning of the poem. For example, he began each line with the word “if.” The writer’s craft and message of the poem make it the true winner.
The first poem”If” is about a dad giving his son advice and saying always try to choose good and not strive to be better than everybody else.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem “Who Has Seen The Wind” is about somebody saying you can not see the wind but you can feel it.
I choose “ Who Has Seen The Wind” as the winner because you have to read between the lines. I feel like in this poem you can make the meaning whatever you want it to be. To add on it feels like a mystery when I read it. For example, the author states “Neither I nor you has seen the wind”.

“If” is about a dad talking to a son and saying what you need to do if you want to be a man. I liked this poem because it had nice imagery and was a thoughtful poem. I really liked this poem.
ReplyDeleteI also read “Who Has Seen the Wind” . This was not my favorite because it was not as good as a lesson as “If” had.
I choose “If” because it had great imagery. I like when poems have good imagery. I example of imagery i liked is when it said, “If you can think and not make thoughts your aim;” . I liked “If” better because of that.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem “Choosing Shoes” is a poem about somebody chosing their shoes and naming all the different kinds of shoes.
I Chose “Choosing Shoes” as the winner because I didn’t like the poems, but the other one had plums in it and plums are not good. I like how it uses imagery when it is describing all the different kind of shoes. For example, “Flats shoes Fat shoes.” I also like the alliteration such as, “buckles shoes bow shoes.”

I think the first poem ‘’, Choosing Shoes ,’’ is about someone trying to buy new shoes , and they found a pair they really like.
ReplyDeleteI think the 2nd poem ‘’, This Is Just To Say ,’’ is about someone who is poor and needed something to eat and ate a plum and he is sorry for himself.
In my opinion I like ,’’ Choosing Shoes,’’ better. For example , On of the reasons I like it is because its very visual. Also ‘’, Choosing Shoes,’’ has more detail. For example ,you can see the red and blue shoes . That is why I like , ‘’ Choosing Shoes ,’’ better.

The second poem “Choosing Shoes,” by Frida Wolfe is about a person choosing shoes and telling all about shoes.

The first poem, “Choosing Shoes”, is about a kid talking about shoes, and how some are fancy and fun. The last stanza is about how everyone chooses boring shoes that are so dull. The tone silly. There is rhyme and imagery.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “This is Just to Say”, is about somebody eating plums and apologizing for it, while kind of rubbing it someone else’s face. The tone is funny and silly. In my opinion, there wasn’t really much writer’s craft.
I choose “This is Just to Say” because it is funny. I also liked the person kind of rubbing it in the other person’s face when it said, “Forgive me, they were so delicious, so sweet, and so cold.”

ReplyDeleteThe poem “Choosing Shoes” was about someone trying to choose what shoes to buy. They wanted the nice and fancy ones, but they get the boring tennis shoes.
I choose “Choosing Shoes” because because I thought it was funny that they wanted the really fancy ones but they got boring outdoor shoes. It was fun to hear about the different types of shoes that she wanted, but couldn’t have. The rhyme scheme was AAAB. I love shopping for shoes, so that is why I choose “Choosing Shoes”.

The poem “This Is Just to Say” is about someone who stole someone else’s plum that they were probably going to eat for breakfast. He ate it because it was so cold,so sweet, and so delicious.
ReplyDeleteThe poem “Choosing Shoes” was about how there is so many options when you are choosing shoes. There is so many styles that you can buy. For example, you can buy red shoes or blue shoes or even fat shoes.
I chose “This Is Just to Say” because I liked the meaning of the poem. I thought I could imagine the poem in my head. -MAC
The first poem “This is just to say” is about a person that says “I ate all of the plums in the icebox ,and which you were probably saving for breakfast. Forgive me they were delicious,so sweet and so cold.” This makes me feel like he or she took the blame for a good cause, and it doesn't matter in the end.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem is called “Choosing Shoes.” It’s about a girl who says all types of shoes but narrows it down to only the few pairs of shoes she can buy. Which are flat shoes, fat shoes, stump-along-like-that shoes, wipe-them-on-mat shoes That’s the sort i’ll buy.
I pick “Choosing shoes” as the winner because it really paints a picture in my mind of her looking at all the options and choosing the only type she can afford. I can really see the shoes with the buckles on them.
-Julia
The first poem, “This is Just to Say” is about how the poet apologizing to someone for eating their breakfast plum, and how good it the plum tasted. This reminds me about how sweets are not that good for you, because if you eat someone else’s you have to apologize. It is like eating sweets, if you eat a bunch of sweets then you get fat.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “Choosing Shoes” is about a bunch of types of shoes, and how hard it is to pick. This poem reminds me of the book “Red Fish Blue Fish” because in “Choosing Shoes” it says a bunch of shoes, and in “Red fish Blue Fish” it talks about a bunch of types a fish.
I chose “Choosing Shoes” for the winner because I love Dr.Seuss, and I like how “Choosing Shoes” is similar to “Red Fish Blue Fish.” Also, this relates to my life, because when I go shoe shopping, I usually like shoes that are a little smaller or bigger than my shoe size.
Roman

I choose “ Choosing Shoes “ as the winner because I like how the author choose shoes to put in the poem. The shoes remind me of people, and we shouldn’t judge people for their background, race, gender, and beliefs. For example, shoes come in different sizes and shapes. This is why I choose “ Choosing Shoes”.
