Dear students,
What exactly is a blog, and why are we using it in 4th grade? We will use the blog to communicate about different things we discuss in class. Our online posts will extend our conversations from class, and allow us to see what other classmates are thinking as well.
We will use the blog for many different things. Often I will write a post, and you will be asked to respond to it for homework. For example, we might post about different reading strategies, or use it to respond to poetry in the spring. However, this year I would also love to have students write a blog post, and classmates can respond to their post.
Today, I am interested in your thoughts about the blog. Please answer the following questions:
1. What excites you about the blog?
2. What questions do you have about the blog?
3. What ideas do you have for future blog posts or using the blog?
I look forward to reading your first blog response!
Your teacher,
Mrs. Eads

DeleteI am so excited about a blog. I think sharing my writing online is so I am so cool because other kids/adults can view my writing. My questions are a: are we going to be doing all of our writing online now, and will other strangers view my work? I think we should write about Oak Hill school and how great it is. Maybe someone will read it and send their kid to Oak Hill.

On Martin Luther King Day we honor the day Martin Luther King, Jr said the famous speech “ I Have A Dream.” Martin Luther King is brave and has a lot of self control. In August 28, 1963 he spoke in front of 250,000 people saying that he has a dream that people are treated equally no matter their race and what they believe in, and every boy and girl white or black should be judged on their character not on their race. He also said this “No, violence is not the way. Hate is not the way. Bitterness is not the way. We must stand up with love in our hearts, with a lack of bitterness and yet a determination to protest courageously for justice and freedom in this land.”This speech means that violence is not the way, but love is. In his time people would threaten to kill his family, also they would spit on him. Though that was tough Martin Luther King Jr never even threw his fist. Sadly on April,4 1968 James Earl Ray shot Martin Luther King Jr, In Memphis Tennessee. MLk is a amazing person.

First I read “The Castle in the Fire.” It’s about dragon who are guarding a castle with a lady inside, and she can’t get out. Then a brave knight comes and sees her inside. He bravely fights the knight, wins the battle and the lady is safe.
ReplyDeleteI also read “Do you Carrot all for me?” it’s about somebody saying that do you care at all for me. Also, lettuce marry, my heart beats for you, and weed make a swell pear.
I choose “Do you Carrot all for me?” I choose this one because I think it’s funny and has good imagery. For example, your radish face and turnip nose. I also liked the word play. For example, lettuce marry and my heart beets for you.
-Ella
I read “Someone.” It’s about when someone came knocking at the door, but when she opened the door no one was there. It was just the outdoors.
ReplyDeleteI also read “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me.” It’s about somebody saying i’m not afraid of anything. Nothing scares me. I just shoo them away.
I choose “Someone” because I liked the rhyme scheme. For example, right, night and fall, all. I Also liked the alteration. For example, busy beetle and tap-tapping. These are the reasons I think “Someone” should win.
-Ella
I think “Casey at the Bat” has a deeper meaning because Casey is sad at the end, but it is also funny. Another reason is, I feel bad for Casey, but at the same time he sort of deserved it. Lastly, This poem makes me have empathy and peace.
ReplyDeleteMy connection is to “Choosing Shoes” because whenever I go shoe shopping I always get that feeling “Bright shoes, white shoes Dandy dance by night night shoes.” Also, when I pick shoes I select one, but the guy there says,”There are other shoes you can try on.” Or something like that.
I like “Casey at the Bat’”s writer’s craft more because the imagery is great. For instance,”Ten thousand eyes were on him,” and,”For Casey, mighty Casey, was advancing to the bat.” This poem also shows rhyme scheme at the beginning, the rhyme scheme is AABB.
I chose….”Casey at the Bat” for the win.”
