I picked The Castle in the Fire because it had more detail, it is a story, and it also has alliteration. For example,the author says, "Then, while we watch in wonder." The Castle in the Fire also had great imagery. I could really picture the dragons guarding the castle and the knight saving the princess. It felt like a storybook to me. That's why I chose The Castle in the Fire.
The first poem, The New Suit, is about a guy who goes to a birthday party and wears a suit but he doesnt get to have any fun because he is being very cautious.

I chose, How to eat a poem, as the winner because it is about food and I like the detail about when if you bite into and poem all the same stuff will happen to you if you bite into and peach or a apple. the rhyme scheme is ABBC.
The first poem, The new suit, Was about someone wearing a new suite to a party. But when he got to the party, everyone said not to eat so the suite won’t get stained.

I choose, The New Suit, as the winner because I like how it used the writer's craft, Imigrary when it described the suit. The writer also used personification when he said the the juice dribbles.
The first poem, The New Suit, was about a kid going to a birthday party with a new suit then he realizes it will be old the next year. I also liked that painted a picture in my mind.

I choose, How to Eat a Poem, Because it had everything that The New Suit had and more. Like rhyme scheme for example. Also How to Eat a Poem painted a bigger picture in my mind than The New Suit.
The first poem is called The New Suite it is about someone who is going yo a birthday party and can not eat a lot of food because they will ruin it.

I choose, How To Eat A Poem, because I am very messy and I like seeing people that aren’t polite. Being polite is a great thing but being messy is also awesome. I usually don’t use a knife to cut an apple.

I vote for How to Eat a Poem because it sounds like it’s easy to eat and I like stuff that is easy to eat. I liked the imagery because it didn’t say to have plate or a napkin or a fork or a spoon or tablecloth so I can imagine a plain poem sitting on the table. I also liked the onomatopoeia because their are a few words in the poem that were spelled the exact way they sounded like core or pit or napkin.
The first poem is about a little boy at his birthday party with a new suit on.He gets all these recommendations about not to eat ice cream or cake or juice.Then he says he’ll wear old clothes next year.

I chose How to Eat a Poem as the winner because it was fun to imagine to eat a poem. The whole poem is kind of a metaphor because it says you can eat a poem even though you can’t and it’s comparing a poem to food. It also shows imagery because it describes in detail how to eat a poem so I can imagine eating one. This is how How to Eat a Poem shows writer’s craft.
The first poem, “The New Suit,” is about a person who goes to a birthday party and since he eats all of this ice cream he gets his suit wet. He also drinks and eats alot of other stuff that ruins his suit. I do not really like this poem because it has no rhyme scheme, and it sort of had imagery. But the message is sometimes when you get new things it is not worth it!
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, “How to Eat a Poem,” is about the poet telling you how to eat a poem. The poet is saying that you do not need anything to eat a poem youk just need a brain and your eyes! This poem has imagery and a tiny rhyme scheme of: AA!!!
I also likes how the poem lists a bunch of things to, that is kind of unique I thought. It also has a good beat!
I choose, “How to Eat a Poem,” just because it has like at least two writer’s craft in it, imagery, rhyme scheme, and a good beat. The poem also does a pretty good job of describing too. I mean both poems were not like the best but I just feel like that, “How to Eat a Poem,” made the cut!

It also used imagery when it said “Striped suit I imagined someone in a striped suit. I liked how he or she said “Next year will be different I will wear old clothes,l be ready to dribble”. I also like how it told about that it was his birthday and everybody was telling him what to do. I think it was unfair but also funny that he had to be told what and how to eat.

I chose How to Eat a Poem as the winner because it’s a story about a narrator telling the reader to eat however they want, and to go crazy when you eat. This story had repetition because it repeated ‘or’ five times at the start of the lines. This story also had rhyme scheme. For example, “Bite in… may run down your chin.” This is why I chose How to Eat a Poem as the winner.
The new suit is about a guy who doesn't want to spill anything on his new suit. At the end he is saying that he will wear old clothes so he does not have to worry about spilling.

I choose the new suit because it popped a picture in my head of a guy trying to look nice for a party. Then he decided he was going to wear something that he would not care to spill on.
I think that The New Suit is about a person going to a party with a new suit that he bout and he thinks it is very nice. But when he gets to the party the suit is super uncomfortable and wants to get a new suit next year. I like this poem but I think that it needs to rhyme a little bit more. That is the only downside to this poem.

Even though both were very well written, I choose How To Eat Poem Because of the rhymes and how good they were. Also, the other one did not rhyme at all. I think that it was great!!

I choose How to Eat a Poem as the winner because it made me laugh repeatedly.Also, this poem used imagery (“Pick it up with your fingers and lick the juice that may run down your skin”).When the poet said this, I could picture juice running down someone’s skin. This poem also used a metaphor (“It is ready and ripe now”).

So since he is wearing new things he does not want to get all of it dirty so he can't eat cake and ice cream so he says that the next year he is going to wear old clothes so he can have dessert and have real fun. The second poem (How to eat a poem) is about how you can eat a poem it tells you all the steps. First you don’t be polite it is a funny poem about all the rules and that you need to just eat the paper because it is delicious and that there is barely anything to it so when you eat it just enjoy it. The winner is… How to eat a poem because it had good imagery and funny rhyme scheme. For example when he says like the rhymes like are and tablecloth. Another example is that when it was listing where regular foods come from it made a picture in your head. This my favorite poem of all time!

I choose The New Suit because it used imagery putting all the sweets in the poem. I also used imagery by thinking of how bad the character feels. It put a lot of blue into my mental picture. I choose The New Suit.

I choose How to eat a poem. I saw the deeper meaning you can love very easily you don’t need a speicail invatation. And there is some repitition in the or, or, or, or, and or. I also see some imagery lick the juice of your chin.
