If~ is about a dad giving his boy advice. For example, if he does all things like "don't look too good or talk too wise," then he will be a man no matter what.
I chose If~ as the winner because it had a deeper meaning, and it has a good rhythm. The rhyme scheme was AAAABCBC, and it gave the poem a good beat. The author used repetition to emphasize the meaning of the poem. For example, he began each line with the word “if.” The writer’s craft and message of the poem make it the true winner.

It goes like aaab, aaab, aaab, aaab. The second type of writer’s craft is repetition. In the poem, it says almost the end of each line, shoes. The first poem I read Is called This is just to Say. It is about a girl who saw really tasty plums. She could help herself from eating them. So, she ate them all. I think it means that we can make mistakes from temptation.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem is call Choosing Shoes. It is about a person who sees so many types of shoes and does not know which ones to pick. It is just like in life we half to make hard decisions.
I choose This is just to Say as the winner because I like how the meaning is about how we can make some bad mistakes from temptation. I also like it because I think it is funny how the person was so tempted for a PLUM, and did not even ask. One of the writer’s craft they used was imagery. For example, when it said I have eaten plum from a icebox it gave me a very good picture in my mind of what is happening. Another part where it put a picture in my mind was when it says forgive me they were delicious, so sweet, and so cold. I think writers craft made me understand the poem more.
I think the first poem This is just to say does not have a big meaning. It is about a man who is telling someone i’m sorry because he ate the plums that were in the icebox and someone was saving them for breakfast.

I think that This is just to say is about a man who ate one of his friend or families plums and he is apologizing for it. This make me think about how we need to tell God what we have done wrong even though he already knows. I like the rhymes a lot and how he probably put a lot of time in to it. Also, I like how he might have been using a real experience.
ReplyDeleteI think that Choosing shoes is about a kid who has a specific type of shoe that he or she likes. I think that this is about being yourself and no one can tell you what to do. I like how they tell about all different types of shoes they like, but I especially like the way he states the types of shoes he likes.
Even though I thought both poems were very well written, I choose this is just to say should win. I think this because of how good the connection to God was. Also, the rhyme scheme was great.
The poem “ This is Just to Say ” is about a boy who admitting that he ate the plums that were in the icebox, and he asking for forgiveness. ReplyDeleteThe poem “ Choosing Shoes” is about a girl deciding what shoes to buy. She has a lot of options to choose from, and I like how she incorporates that with the poem.
