Poetry Madness: Game 6

Read Game 6 poems. Answer each question below. Remember to explain WHY you chose the winner based on poet's craft (rhyme, line breaks, punctuation, simile/metaphor, word choice, repetition) AND your personal connection to the meaning. Don't forget to write with M.I.N.T.S.!

    The Castle of Fire is about a knight saving a person!

    I chose the castle of fire because i had heard the story before. The rhyme scheme is ABCB! Overall this poem was very good!

  2. Do you carrot all for me is about how he loves a women and he's describing her in vegtables. It has a lot of imagery.

    The castle of fire is about a castle of fire and a knight is trying to save the princess by fighting the dragons.

    I choose Do you carrot all for me because it is funny. It had lots of imagery. And it is fun to read.

    The castle in the fire is about a big castle and everything in it.

    I choose do you carrot all for because it was very funny. I also liked how the writer wrote what he wanted to write. That is why I choose do you carrot all for me.

    Do you carrot all for me is about a guy turning real words to vegetables for a substitute. For example in the title do carrot me it is do you care for me.

    THE CASTLE OF FIRE
    The castle of fire is about a dragon setting fire to a castle. For example it said the dragon blue the castle with fire.

    I CHOSE DO YOU CARROT ME
    Do you carrot me is about a guy who makes a love song out of veggies. It is a funny storey with a good rhyme scheme. This is a great poem.

  5. the first poem is Do you carrot all for me? THe main idea is about vegetables and changing the words to act like real words in a story. The writer's craft had personification it is you are a peach and lettuce marry.

    the second poem was castle of fire. The main idea was about a dragon who guarded the castle with it's fire breathing ability. The writer's craft had a rhyme pattern of ABAB.

    I choose the castle of fire because it had a rhyme that was ABAB and had a meaning to the story.It had a alliteration which was watched in wonder.

  6. The first poem, Do You Care At All For Me?, is about a man asking a woman if she cares for him but it is asking while using words such as beets,turnip, radish ,peach, cantaloupe, lettuce, and pear . So it sounds normal but he is naming vegetables and fruits.

    The second poem, The Castle In The Fire, is about a castle and almost what is going on from dragons to knights, it is a poem story of what happens in a castle.

    I chose The Castle In The Fire because it told a good story and it really put a great picture in my mind of the dragons, knights, and castle. It also had a wonderful writer’s craft it had alliteration such as “lady’s lovely face” and it also a great rhyme scheme.

  7. The first poem, Do You Care At All For Me, is about a man trying to get a girl to marry him, but using vegetable names.

    The second poem The Castle in the Fire, is about a knight bravely battling a dragon to save a lady.

    I chose Do You Care At All For Me because it was funny. Also it was unique because it didn't really have a rhyme scheme. Every word was different. For example, these are all the last words of each line,

    me
    you
    nose
    face
    peach
    cantaloupe
    marry
    pear
    This is why I chose Do You Care At All For Me.

  8. The first poem, Do You Carrot all for me? is about someone who is writing a love poem using veggies. For some of the writer's craft I didn't get because it said your radish face, or your turnip nose.
    The Castle in the Fire is about a dragon who is breathing fire on a castle. When the knight saves the day, he takes the princess with him. I liked the writer's craft because it painted a picture in my mind.
    I chose Do You Carrot All For Me because it was funny and cute. It was very clever because he had to look up a bunch of veggies that made sense in a love poem.

  9. The Castle in the Fire is about a dragon attacking a castle. Do you Carrot at all for me is about a guy asking a girl if she cared about him, but the poet used corny vegetable jokes/words. The rhyme scheme is abcdefgh. I chose The Castle in the Fire because it felt more like a fairy tale, and I kind of like fairy tales. The rhyme scheme is abcbabcbabcbabcbabcbabcb.

  10. The first poem, Do You Carrot All For Me, is about a person talking about a carrot.That really wants one. I have a very good imagery in my mind when I read it.

    The second poem, The Castle in the Fire, is about someone who is in the castle and there is a fire. I really liked the rhyme scheme of this poem.

    I chose, Do You Carrot All For Me, as the winner because it was easier to understand. For example, I could really tell what they wear talking about. Also I had a good imagery in my head. For example, I could picture someone asking for a carrot.

  11. Do You Carrot All for Me is somebody asking if somebody cares for them by using food that sounds like real words. For example: With your turnip nose
    and your radish face.

    The Castle In the Fire is about a dragon that fights a knight and the knight saves the lady and they live happily ever after.

    I choose The Castle in The Fire because I really understood it . It had really good imagery. For example when it said Set out to guard the gate of the old enchanted castle I could really picture that in my mind.

    the castle in the fire is about a castle with a lot of commotion.I think the writer was trying to make it funny. my image was a funny castle.

    I pick bo you carrot all for me it was funny. and I liked the fact that the writer was unknown it was cool. it was a good image. I really liked it.

  13. The main idea for the first poem Do you carrot all for me? is about love. But, it uses the words of vegetables and fruit. For example, Lettuce marry and you are my peach.

    The main idea for the second poem The Castle in the fire. Is about a dragon coming to a castle and guards guarding the castle. Then, The knight sees a lady's lovely face. Then the knight saves the lovely lady from the dragon.

    I choose Do you carrot all for me? I choose it because it had funny sentences. For example, lettuce marry. Also, I really like the title.

  14. This Is Just to Say- This poem is about A kid who eats a plum out of the fridge which was supposed to be for breakfast. I got this from the part when it said “I have eaten the plums that were in the icebox,” and the part when it said “you were probably saving them for breakfast.”

    Choosing Shoes- This poem is about a person telling you about shoes at the shoes. I got this from the part when it said “New shoes, new shoes, Red, pink, and blue shoes.”

    I think the winner is Choosing Shoes because It is like a rap. Then for This Is Just to Say is kinda confusing to me.

  15. The first poem,"Do You Carrot All For Me?" is about a person professing his love with the use of vegetables.


    The second poem, "Do You Carrot All For Me?" by Mary Jane Carr is about people watching out of a castle. The rhyme scheme is ABCB in every stanza.


    I chose the first poem, "Do You Carrot All For Me?" because I liked how they interpreted vegetables into the poem. I thought it was really cheesy!:)

  17. I think do you carrot all for me? is a humorous story that has no particular meaning but is funny and weird in different ways.
    I think that the Castle the fire is about someone watching a knight try and defeat a dragon to get to the princess in the tower. (the typical fairy tale)
    My winner is the castle in the fire because of my understanding for it and the fairy tale like plot. I also enjoyed the way they wrote the description of the knight and the dragon.

  18. Do You Carrot all for me? is about someone asking do you carrot all for me, Lettuce marry. It is comparing veggies in the poem. I like how it says, "Lettuce marry"

    The Castle in the Fire is about a castle on fire. Dragons were fighting and it was amazing.Upon the tower a window opens and a lovely lady came out. A knight saved her and when the smoke cleared Riding away together was the lady and the knight.

    I choose The Castle in the Fire as the winner because I like fantasy and it was much better. I loved when the dragons were battling. Also, I liked the ending.

  19. The first poem, Do you Carrot All for Me?, is about love. They used vegetables to replace normal words like "My heart beats you."

    The second poem, The Castle in the Fire, is about a castle and guarding a dragon. It is very specific on talking abou the guards.

    I pick Do You Carrot All For Me because of the way they changed the words. A of the unique choices of words are lettuce instead of let us.Those are reasons I chose Do You Carrot All For Me.

    The poem, The Castle in the Fire, is about a knight fighting a dragon at a castle.

    For the winner I chose, Do you carrot all for me? Because, the imagery makes you think of people made from foods. Also, because the syllables are very close together. Finally, because when you read this poem it just makes you feel happy.

    The castle in the fire is about a castle that is burning because a dragon when they see a lady in the fire castle and a knight saves her.

    I choose Do you carrot all for me because it made me laugh how they use the food as words. And it paints a picture in your head like when it says a food I think of that food. For example when it says lettuce marry I think of lettuce.

    I choose Do You Carrot All For Me? Because it is very sweet and funny at the same time!! I like how he uses fruits and veggies to describe her!! Such as "Your radish face." So that is why I chose Do You Carrot All For Me?

    I think Do you carrot me is about people expressing their love though vegetable mode. I like The castle in the fire because it expresses the time of castles and knights. The rhyme scheme is ABCB. I like how it uses fantasy things like a dragon.

  25. I think do you carrot all for me, is a funny poem about love but with vegetables. like "lettuce marry".
    I think The castle in the fire, is about a night who is trying to save a princess stuck in a tower. The night has to slave the dragon first to get to the princess.
    I choose,The castle in the fire, as the winner because it made a lot more since to me and was really long and interesting.i also liked it because it was a fairy tale. i liked how they used onomatopoeia. for example, when the knight was slaving the dragon and there was a ROAR!

    THe second poem is about a knight trying to save a princess from a tower that has a dragon trying to burn it down.

    I pick The castle in the fire because it wasn't as chezzie for example It Lettuce marry that is way to lovey dovey for me it also says my heart beets for you. THat's why I think The castle in the fire wins.

    The Castle in the Fire- This poem is about a knight fighting a dragon in the fire. I got this from the part when it said "Ah, 'twas a brilliant fight!"

    I say Do you carrot all for me because of how it is like a veggie love story. The the second one was really confusing to me.

    Even though it didn’t really rhyme, it was funny when the author used vegetables that made sense in place of other words. It also had imagery, and I could picture someone proposing someone.
