I chose Mother To Son because i thought that it taught a lesson. The writer’s craft was phrases! I really understood what the mom was trying to say to the kid! I know that that conversation could happen in real life!
The poem, Casey at the Bat, has more of a meaning to me. It means that even if you are really good at something anything can happen.

I liked Choosing Shoes’ poet's craft. The rhyme scheme is AAAB all the way through the poem. Also, the imagery makes me imagine that I am at a shoe store. Finally, the alliteration is great. For example, ‘Dandy-dance-by-night-shoes,’

ReplyDeleteThe poem that had more meaning was Mother to Son. Life isn’t always fair. Fight for what you believe in. In the story there was a slave who was talking to her son about life. She said that life won’t always be fair. I learned a lot from this poem.
I connect with Mother to son. When I was little, my mom would tell me the more important things in life. Not money, or clothes. Your friends and feelings. One of your feelings is greediness. Life won’t always be fair. And if you think it has to be, then you might be greedy.
I liked the writer’s craft in choosing shoes the most. It used so many examples of shoes. It inspired me of something. I wondered if I could come up with those kinds of ideas.

Casey at the bat is about a baseball player who strikes out 3 strikes out when everybody was counting on him. My favorite part is when he strikes out the third time and everybody is mad at him. I also like this poem because it says different words. For example So when Cooney died at second and burrows did the same, a pallor wreathed features of the patrons of the game.

I like this poem because it rhymes and names all different kinds of things. One example is, new shoes new shoes red pink and blue shoes tell me what would you choose?

I liked the writer’s craft in the poem, Mother To Son, because they use many sources such as, couplet example:I’se still going and I’se still goin. Also they used alliteration example: bare but and bare back. I thought not just couplet and alliteration were important to make this a good poem, but also the chosen words. The author chose to make her sound southern example:reachin’, landin’s, and i’se. Which makes your reader put together other parts of the story.
