Dear Readers,
As an avid reader, I often find myself finishing a great book or an interesting article, and desperately wanting to share my thoughts with someone. When I lived in Indiana, I was lucky enough to have a group of friends who shared a passion for reading, so we formed a book club. While I am not in the same city as my book club anymore, I still reach out to my friends and family in Nashville, to discuss my questions and opinions about literature.
As a classroom of learners, we have created a community geared toward having a teachable spirit, so we may grow to become people of knowledge, wisdom, and ultimately character. One way we do this is by reading and forming ideas and connections that begin to shape us. In order to support this work, this blog will serve as a way to discuss various things when we are not in the class. Essentially, the blog will become a virtual classroom.
For example, I might post about a response about Thank You, Mr. Falker by explaining my connection to the character, Trish. I might say how much I relate to her overcoming an obstacle with the help of a teacher and how motivated I was to find out the author was the one who overcame her learning hurdle and became a published author. You will have the same chance to post your reactions, but also, to respond to what someone else might say. In this way, our posts become a conversation when we are away from the classroom.
As we begin this online blogging adventure, I challenge you to bring your working minds to the keyboard and let me know your thoughts and feelings about literature. We have so much to discover ...
So, join the community! Come on in, pull up to a computer, let me know your thoughts about literature and our blogging opportunity. I believe the blog will be a wonderful opportunity for our class to communicate in a unique way.
Literature is an important part of my life because I enjoy getting lost in a story and having friends recommend books to me. Also, I love talking about the books I have read. I am interested in learning more about the part literature plays in your life and who is a character you have made a strong connection to and why.
Write about the following in your comment below:
How is literature a part of your life?
Who is a character that you have made a strong connection with and why?
Love,
Mrs. Eads
Literature is a big part of my life because I love to read and I think it is fun. A character I connect to is Joe Hardy from the Hardy Boys because I love mysteries.
ReplyDeleteI think that's cool, because i kinda like Hardy Boys too.
DeleteI love hardy boys
DeleteI have never read it!!
DeleteMe to andrew
DeleteI love the hardy boys!!!!!
DeleteI love reading. I always do it to escape reality, I love when the book becomes real to you, i also love feeling like you are in the book. I can relate to Harry Potter because he prefers to put off homework till the very last second.
ReplyDeleteConnection!
DeleteLiterature is a part of my life because I love to read! It takes me to another world. The character I have made a strong connection with is probably Little Pea from Little Pea. He does not want to eat candy for his dessert: spinach! The only difference is that I don’t want to eat spinach for my dessert: candy. -Ella
ReplyDeleteI totally know how you feel. I LOVE to read too!!
DeleteI connect with books because I think that it is like a new adventure. My character that I have made a strong connection with is Junie B. Jones. I chose her because she is super unique, spunky, and funny just like me.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely right!!
DeleteI Love Love Love reading. That's like my sport for me. My strong character is Daphne in the Sisters Grimm. Her older sister Sabrina is always bossing her around. My sister is always bossing me around to.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog
DeleteReading is a part of my life because I read every night for 30 mins for homework. Reading when I find a good story is a tiny bit of fun. But when I get a bad story I do not like to read the bad book. A character I connect to is Will in the book Underdogs by. Mike Lupica. I connect to him by loving football for all my life and wanting to play in the NFL.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Geronimo Stilton. In the book he says that he afraid of the dark. And I am very afraid the dark. I was with a friend and it was dark outside and I had to get the ball. When I went to get it I sprinted as fast as I could back to my friend. He could tell I was afraid. It depends on what kind of book it is. If it is a good book, I enjoy reading. If it is a bad book, I don't enjoy reading. That is how I feel about reading.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is a part of my life because when I really like a book I don't want to stop reading. Also when there is a great book I want to keep reading the next book the author wrote. I have made a strong connection with Jamie in I Funny. One is when he had to do a performance on a stage. That reminded me of the first time I got on the stage for Thanksgiving service. Or when I had to drive somewhere to do a competition. In the book he had to drive to New York for competition.
ReplyDeleteBooks are a huge part of my life. When I am stressed, I will walk up to my room and read. It calms me down.
ReplyDeleteI have made a strong connection with Brian Robeson in the book Hatchet. He has a lot of trust and hope in himself. 2 years ago, my grandpa was struggling and was in the hospital for over 6 months. He was in a oxygen tank when he got back. A month or two later we thought he was going to die so we went to Indiana and said goodbye. We had trust and faith that my grandpa would survive. He survived and was alive for over a year more. On November 11, 2015 he died in his sleep. I do not think he would of survived that long if we did not hope and pray. This makes me like Brian because Brian had trust and hope that he would survive.
connection. my uncle died
Deletesorry for yo loss. feel you fam
DeleteReading is a part of my life because I have to read every day and I like to do it. I have a connection to Marty from Shiloh he is always trying to convince his parents to letting him keep Shiloh. In my life I'm always trying to convince my mom to get me stuff.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is a big part in my life because books take me on adventures and they make my imagination bigger. A character I connected to is Crickett from Teacher's Pet. I don't want to be the Teacher's because I don't want people to make fun of me.
ReplyDeleteSame here and well said.-Campbell
DeleteLiterature is big also for me
DeleteA book is very special. The reason why is because if you are stressed with something the funny characteristics in the book cheers me up. The other reason is that it helps me make connections and teaches me new things to learn or do. I have made a strong connection with a character in Middle School. My connection is the sister of Rafe Georgia has to deal with her brother when Rafe doesn't care what she is talking about.
ReplyDeleteSame with Vee, I feel like Georgia sometimes too.-Campbell
DeleteI understand I have a older sibling too.
Deletebooks are a good part of my life, but not sad ones. I can make connections when the grandmother almost died in the witches . a couple of years ago my uncle got in a car rech and died. I can relate that the boy was scared that maybe his grandmother would die. I'm fine now and I calm about it.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry about your loss Caleb.
DeleteCool, Dude.
DeleteYours was sad but good! Yours was GREAT!
DeleteI. Am. The. SHADOW. heh-heh. Bronnie.
DeleteHey.
DeleteBooks are a big part of my life because I love to read. The book Ivy and Bean is a book that I use to read when I was little. Bean is like me because i'm fun and spunky but Ivy is like me because in good (most of the time).
ReplyDeleteBooks are what keeps me going sometimes. I feel like I can get lost in my own world and connect to the characters. I think I connect with Piggie, from Elephant and Piggie. I feel we have a similar personality. She Is spunky and kind. I am blessed with many good friends like Piggie. I love the Elephant and Piggie books because they teach you about friendships. I love to read and Piggie makes it fun to do.-Campbell
ReplyDeleteI feel like you have the same personality as Piggy too.
DeleteMe to
DeleteYou are so like Piggy!! -Ella
DeleteLiterature is a big part of my life. When I need something to do or I am disappointed. I have loved the character Ben in the spy school series. He has a very exciting life. It would be very cool to have a life like Ben but also very scary. Like when he has to infiltrate Spyder and stop their plans to launch missiles at bridges. Ben still has a lot to learn at spy school because he is good at math but not shooting or fighting. Ben has to go through tough challenges and decisions in his life. For example saying yes to go to spy school because spy school is very dangerous and could kill him. a challenge Ben has to go through is find out what the enemy is planning and stop them. Ben is a very exciting character
ReplyDeleteI read all of it, well thought out you did great!
Deletegood to know.
DeleteI like your style.
DeleteThe last reply was Bronson
Deleteyours was okay
DeleteI am not cool
DeleteThat was Caleb He forgot to capitalize
DeleteUh, you know your not aloud to do that, right Caleb?
DeleteLiterature is a part of my life because, I connect to characters. This is a part of my life because, when I connect, I infer how the character was feeling. And that was probably how I was feeling too. I like to get my thoughts on paper. For example: Teddy, in the book poached, was accused of something he didn't do. He felt like running away. (Not that he didn't run away) When I'm accused of something, I run away. That's how literature comes to life in my life
ReplyDeleteLiterature is part of my life because I find that it is something that I find a pastime and it helps me calm down. It also gives me more knowledge and keeps me entertained. My connection is from “The Wingfeather Saga”. It's main character’s name is Janner, and he’s like me because he is always finding out new things.
ReplyDeletecool!
DeleteYeah! Nice!
DeleteI love to read.I love to read because it feels like it takes me into another world. My favorite book ever is definitely Amulet. I just found out about Amulet about a few months ago and I showed my friends it and they loved it too! Amulet definitely takes me into another world because Emily,Navin, and Emily´s mom. Amulet is about Emily who finds an Amulet and she finds out that it has special powers. Emily and her friends that she finds on the way have many adventures. Amulet has 7 books in the series and they are about to come out with the 8th. This is a great book I strongly recommend that you read this book.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is a good part of my life, I feel like I can do anything or be anything when I am in a book. I love the feeling when you're reading a book, and you just feel like you're watching the whole thing from your very own eyes. I have made a strong connection with Lily from The Forget-Me-Not Summer. Lily and I both have two older siblings, and we both look up to them as examples.
ReplyDeleteNice description!
DeleteBOOKS.
DeleteBooks, books! Books are my life! I love books. I always read when I get the chance. I really like the book Harry Potter. It is adventure packed and full of action.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel! BOOKS ARE MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteHey, dude.
DeleteHey, dude,
DeleteHey you copied me!
DeleteLiterature is a part of my life and sometimes not. I like it because after gymnastics it cools my mind down. The character I have a connection with is Stardust, she is from Princess Ponies. Even tho she is a horse I still have a connection with her. My connection with her is we both like tiaras and pink.
ReplyDeleteLiterature is not a big part of my life because I would rather be playing with my dad outside. Or playing sports. That is because I do not like literature that much. I have a strong connection with is Matilda because she is always trying hard. I am like her I always try hard, even when I no I am going to do bad on I still try hard. If it is in sports, homework, or anything I try hard, and I have to give some credit to my parents because that is how they raised my.
ReplyDeleteI read all of it, Well thought out, You did AWESOME!
DeleteSame with you William. ut I still love books.
DeleteMe too
DeleteLiterature is a HUGE part of my life because I LOVE to read!!!!! It takes me off into a whole other world! I connect to Matilda in the book Matilda. I feel misunderstood when I do or say something that wasn't what I meant to do. When somebody gets mad at Matilda, She feels misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteI know. I love books.
DeleteBook are a part of my life because they can be chapter books that quiz your reading or even math books that test your knowledge. I like nonfiction books. My character connection is Jules in the book Sting because she is brave and likes to do acrobatics and I like acrobatics.
