Dear students,
Each new year, two of my cyber-mentors challenge teachers to find their One Little Word (OLW). The OLW is one word that will represent, or symbolize, the year ahead. The word should be personal and thoughtful. My mentors spend weeks thinking about their OLW, making sure they select a word that will really guide them.
I have thought a great deal about my OLW. For 2016, I selected "trust" as my One Little Word. I selected "trust" because I don't always trust God's plan and try to make my own way. I need this word to remind me to trust not only His plan for me, but also to trust in the strengths and talents He has blessed me with, rather than worry about the future. Trust can apply to my life in so many ways - through friends, work, my students, my family, myself, and ultimately, God's plan for me. I will use this word to guide me through the days of 2016.

This year I need to execute. I need to execute my thoughts and my work. When I execute I can not be silly. Executing is going to help me in my life. And through the school year.

ReplyDeleteMy OLW is step.I always try to take a step up and make things more challenging.I want to get a big step in math so I can do more challenging problems.I can use this word through the year by always trying my hardest and take more steps I will learn more and accomplish more.I can use the word in math,reading,and all of the other subjects.I can also use the word in sports to play better.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW word is bravery. I need to be brave to get through the school year. I need to be brave to get through hard tests I can use my OLW word this year a lot because I need to be brave to get good grades and I need to be brave to make new friends. I have to be brave for a lot at school.

ReplyDeleteMy OLW is thankful. I chose this word because I need to be thankful for what I have and not needy for what I don't. For example I don't need snacks when I still have some at home. If you think about it some people don't have any food at all. Another example is when my sister and I keep on asking for a puppy even though we already have a lot of pets. I will try my best to be thankful for what I have.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is Hakuna Matata. I learned it from Disney's The Lion King. It means no worries.I need this word in my life because I have a lot going on. I work hard on travel soccer. I also work my hardest in school.I love this word because it reminds me that everything will be okay and that there is no worries.-Campbell

My OLW is friendship.Friendship is my OLW because I need to get better at friendship. The reason i'm doing this word is because I should have more friends. But i'm getting better at it.

When someone tells me that I am wonderful I feel like I did something good and that I am wonderful.I will guide my year by this telling people that they are wonderful so that they can feel good and know that they are wonderful. I can use my OLW to make people feel better.

DeleteMotivation is my O.L.W. word. It means to get someone excited about something or to get someone confident. You can do this by encouraging someone to join a game or playing with them. This may get them motivated about the next time you try it. Motivation can really change what you like.
ReplyDeleteMy O.L.W. is to practice .This word to me is to train for gymnastics ,and to practice listening to others . This year if I focus on my O.L.W. I can achieve my goals , and do anything I set my mind to .
ReplyDeleteMy OLW is calmness. I want to be more calm and not get angry or agitated a lot. I need to have more calmness so I can get through the day and not give up or just being cranky. I don't really like being mad!

ReplyDeleteMy one little word is create. I chose that word because I want to create new friends. I also want new strengths and talents. The another way I will use create is to create new goals this year. That is some ways I will use create this year.
ReplyDeletePositiveness. I choose positiveness because, if you think negative no one will want to hang out with you, you'll give up instead of trying, and you will be stronger. For example: You're in the middle of a math test, you get stuck on a question. Be positive, and you will keep trying, or you're about to play the best team in the league. Don't just not try, stay positive and play your best. You might even win! So choose positiveness over negativeness! That is why I chose positiveness
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is "faith". This word applies to my life because I have needed faith many times in my life. I can use my OLW guide my year by having faith everyday. I think this word will help me a lot in 2016.

My O-L-W is discover. When I discover I will find new ways to work problems out. I will try new things during class. I can also find new friends. Discovering to me means to find new options. When I discover, I can find new and fun things.
ReplyDeleteI would think that my O-L-W is privileged because some people don't even go to school. Some people don't get to eat everyday. Also our school Is better than a lot of other schools. I think I can use my olw word to help me to remember that if I'm feeling like nothing could be worse there might be someone else that is suffering more than me.

DeleteMy one little word is Grace. Here are a few of my reasons. 1 reason is for me is my name[Grace]. My 2nd reason is my experiences. My 3rd reason is how I always try to stay positive.

ReplyDeleteMy One Little Word is IMPROVE. I need to improve on many things. In school, I need to improve on my reading skills. Sometimes, I might start a book and then stop. I need to work on this skill. Also, I need to improve in Science. Sometimes I forget what I do and I can't comprehend. I have many things I need to improve on.

DeleteMy little word is open. I chose open because sometimes you need to be open to new things and just go with the flow. To try new things means to be brave.
ReplyDeleteMy second little word is relax. I chose this word because, I know being the younger brother that the first thing that comes to your mind is to pounce on your brother. However I learned that that is not always the answer. Sometimes you just need to relax.

ReplyDeleteMy one little word is go. I think that I need to go with the flow more. In P.E. I talked to coach Dryden about why my goal didn't count. When a lot of boys were playing a tackling game I was the only one that got in trouble. I tried to tell Mrs. Eads it wasn't only me. That is why I chose go

DeleteI think that a good OWL word for me in 2016 is friendships. I can use this word because I didn’t know Lars or Louis because they are new.People like Hayes, Clayton, Archer, Luke, and Tanner have only been in my class one or two years.I hope this will guide me because my dad always talks about friendships.Whenever someone did something mean to him his friends were always there for him. The word friendships has always been talked about in my family and so now I think that is a good OWL word for me.
ReplyDeleteMy One Little Word is kind.I am kind to my friends by playing with they are not feeling 100 percent.I am kind because when one of my friends get hurt I help them up.Another example of kindness is if you see someone that is by there self at recess you can play with them.Those where examples of kindness.

DeleteMy word is focused because I need to be focused in life when I grow up. And not be silly. Being focused can help me because it can help me and get more studying for tests and assignments. Being focused helps me by keeping my life straight.
ReplyDeleteMy O-L-W is the word faithful, because when I am in a hard situation I fell faithful in my self. Also when I am disappointed I think of happy thoughts and faithfulness.
ReplyDeleteFor one reason is that when you take a quiz you half to fell faithful in yourself and say in your head do not give up stay faithful in you self. Another reason is that when you have know one to play with on the playground you stay faithful.
