Here is an example of proficient writing:
The Eagle is about an eagle flying over the sea and close to the sun. Then he is watching the mountain and swoops down like a lightning bolt to catch his prey.
The second poem, Casey at Bat, is about a boy whose baseball team is losing, but there are two people on base. Casey gets two strikes, and the crowd is very upset. Finally, Casey strikes out, and the crowd is outraged.
For the winner, I chose The Eagle. I chose it because it had a deeper meaning and understanding for me. I also liked how used a rhyme scheme of AAABBB. Also, the author used a simile comparing the eagle to a thunderbolt, "He watches from his mountain walls, And like a thunderbolt he falls." That is why I choose The Eagle.
The first poem, If-, is saying if you can do all of these things you become more of an adult.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about how you can not see the wind but you can see the wind move things.
I choose If the winner because I like the rhyme scheme and the message the poem sends.
I think that Who has Seen the Wind is about how no person or thing can see it, but we all can feel it.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, If is about how if you do all the things they list in the poem you will be successful in life.
I chose Who has seen the Wind because it had a different different rhyming pattern( A A B B) Also it had two places where there was personification. 1 Neither I nor you: but the leaves hang trembling 2 neither I nor you: but when the trees bow their heads. It was repetitive too. that is why I liked Who has seen the wind.
I think that the first poem, If, is about thinking if the world was like that. If the world was like what Mr. Kipling described then the world would be nice. Everyone would be nice to each other and be patient and forgiving to everyone. Wars would be broken and the whole world would unite together in a fabulous earth groupie, and maybe some aliens would join in too. There would be no drugs or hungry people or artificial sweeteners in things that are normally healthy and world would be fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about a person who is thinking that you can feel the wind sometimes touch the wind, but never see it.
I chose If as the winner because I love the thrill and awe of long earned world peace. The world is broken and the chances of that happening are 1-1000 but like Han Solo said, "Never tell me the odds!". I love the poem also because it is well written.
The first poem, If, is about someone asking if you can keep your head held high when times are low. The second poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about someone who has never seen the wind but knows when it's passing through. I choose Who Has seen The Wind as the winner. I love how he writes how he sees the trees. I really like how the writer puts the poem. I really like it and the words that she uses are really good.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem Who Has seen the Wind is saying that the wind is everywhere you can not see it but you when it is passing by. The trees are bowing down that is when you know the wind is here.

ReplyDeleteThe second poem is called If. If is about a man how is telling a kid if you should do this he will be a man.
The winning poem is Who Has Seen the Wind, because it has more meaning and in the story it repeats and I think that is cool. Another thing I like is is the way that AA BB CC.That is some reasons that I like it.
The first poem, Who Has Seen The Wind is talking about a storm (wind) has gone by and no one ever saw it. And it came down the trees.

ReplyDelete2) In the poem If, it is about what if you could do something to make the world a better place.
Opinion) I liked the poem If better because it was more detailed. I also liked it because it was very meaningful and obviously it took a long time to write. My last lesson for liking it better than Who has seen the wind, is because I liked the rhyme scheme pattern ABABAB
The first poem 'If' is about a father talking to his son about life.

The first poem, Who has seen the wind, is telling you that no one has seen the wind only what it does to things when it passes through.
ReplyDeleteIn the second poem, If, the author is talking to his son and telling him that he is perfect the way he is and to not underestimate himself.
I choose If as my favorite. I liked the message telling us that God made us the way he wanted and he would not make a human being that he was not happy with. I have to remember to never underestimate myself when I am messing up.
the first poem, IF is about what if all this happened and you get stuff out of the good and the bad.
ReplyDeleteThe second poem, Who has seen the wind is about how you can't see the wind but when you look around at the trees and all the stuff God has created you know the wind is there.
I chose who has seen the wind as the winner because it tells us that the wind is everywhere when you look around. This poem has a rhyme scheme of A.B.A. and includes personification. For example, "But when the trees bow down their heads." that is why I chose this poem.

ReplyDeleteI think If is about a kid who gets picked on and people made up lies about him, they also doubted him. But at the end it kind of told us that it was the dad that was talking to his son
My favorite was Who Has Seen the Wind. I liked it because it was very nice. I saw a personification in the poem it said, "But when the trees bow down there heads". I also found a metaphore it said," Who has seen the wind?".

The first poem, If, is about is about a dad that is talking to his son and using the word, it, a lot. The second poem, Who has Seen the Wind, is about the wind, and people are talking about the wind. I choose Who Has Seen the Wind as the winner. it was a better poem to me, it made more sense, and I understand it better. I t had more personification, but that is not why Who Has Seen the Wind was my favorite.
ReplyDeleteThe first poem, Who Has Seen the Wind, is about the wind and how you can see it but you can't really see it at all! It used personification saying" But when the trees bow down their heads,". I also liked how the author switched the saying "Neither I nor you" into "Neither you nor I" but it had the same meaning. The second poem, If, is about a mother telling her son about all these virtues you'll need in life. I like the rhyme scheme ABAB. It used cool sayings like "If you can dream - and not make dreams your master" and used the word "knaves" in it.
ReplyDeleteI chose If as the winner because it had a deeper meaning to me as a reader. I liked how you had to think about every single line. Also it flowed really well, almost like a song. Finally, I liked in the end how the mom explains all these good qualities and then she says once you've mastered them all you'll be a man. If was really good because it was all about imperfection.
The first poem, If, is about a father telling his son what being a man is like. It is also about how you have to do the right thing and keep in balance even if others don't. The second poem, Who Has Seen The Wind, is about how the wind makes different things happen like making the leaves hang and tremble and how the trees bow there heads. It asks, who has seen the wind, but I haven't seen it and you haven't seen it. I chose If as the winner because it has a great message. It has an interesting rhyme scheme because it is unpredictable, it also changes a lot. It says if in every sentence, which is interesting. I likes both overall though.
