Dear students,
Each new year, two of my cyber-mentors challenge teachers to find their One Little Word (OLW). The OLW is one word that will represent, or symbolize, the year ahead. The word should be personal and thoughtful. My mentors spend weeks thinking about their OLW, making sure they select a word that will really guide them.
I have thought a great deal about my OLW. For 2016, I selected "trust" as my One Little Word. I selected "trust" because I don't always trust God's plan and try to make my own way. I need this word to remind me to trust not only His plan for me, but also to trust in the strengths and talents He has blessed me with, rather than worry about the future. Trust can apply to my life in so many ways - through friends, work, my students, my family, myself, and ultimately, God's plan for me. I will use this word to guide me through the days of 2016.

My olw for 2016 is believe because I will always believe in myself and everyone else and. I will always believe in

DeleteThe word sparkle is a word that means the beginning of something to me. It means something has come alive. Sparkle can mean a magic word also. Sparkle can mean light and joy. Sparkle is a magical word to meaning coming alive.
ReplyDeleteMy little word is peaceful. I choose peaceful because I think that everyone should be peaceful so that we can all be happy! I like this word because I think it will help us remember that having a little peace will keep us all calm. Peaceful can many different things not just calm, it can also mean joy, hope, and light.

DeleteMy word is harmony because, it is a small word that can mean sooooo much. Sometimes the new year doesn't go your way and you need a word that helps you start over. Trust me I have learned from experience and if you have too I hope yours wasn't like mine. Apparently it is not very pleasant to have your ears hear the screaming of people counting the crystal ball down while you are lying on the couch because you tweaked your back on a trampoline a few moments before. Harmony means a lot of things to me and only to me. I want to start the new year with harmony and have a great fourth grade!
ReplyDeleteThe word I chose is forward. The reason I chose this word was because you should always look forward, and never look down on yourself because of the past. If you miss a layup in a basketball game it can be pretty frustrating. But you shouldn't get really mad at yourself and disappointed. You need to say to yourself I'll get it next time or it's ok your friends won't be mad at you. This is why I chose the word forward. I also thought that believe would be a good word for 2016. Because you should always believe in god, and believe in yourself. Believe is a good way to remember to pray to the lord at hard times, and to believe in yourself. You shouldn't care what your friends say, and if they will say something bad they shouldn't be your friend. I chose this word because I will always remember to look to the lord and believe in him.

DeleteMy word is determine. I chose determine because in life you have many choices that you have to determine what you will do. I play many different types of sports and I was playing so many sports that I didn't have enough time to commit to all of them so I had to for next year stop playing one sport. It was hard to determine but, I made my desicion. In your life you will have to determine over a topic but, with God's help you will overcome that topic.

DeleteOne little word it changes everything.Wouldn't you think that you would chose a word that not only changes everything but everyone.That's why I chose dependable,I chose it because when my friends feel sad,down or upset I want them to be able to depend on me.That's how I want to start the new year.
ReplyDeleteAs my guiding word for 2016 I selected elevate. I chose this word because I plan to be more responsible and elevate my parents expectations of me. I also will try hard to elevate my grades by studying harder, putting my best into everything I do, and to finish projects as soon as we get them so I don't have to worry about it the day that it is due. I would also like to elevate my teachers' trust for me. I want them to feel like I can handle any project or my best friend being my partner. I want them to draw my best friend's and my stick together as partners and say I'm positive that they can handle this. I really want them to feel that I take school seriously and not as social hour. I think elevate is a perfect OLW for me.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is smile. This word applies to my life because, smiling can help you make more friends. My one little word will help me get through the year because, like I said it can help you make more friends and if someone is said you can make them feel better by smiling at them. These are some reasons why I chose the word smile.

DeleteFor my OLW. I picked "kindness". I picked "kindness" because sometimes I don't always be kind and be mean in a different way. I selected this word to remember to be nice to people when they are not nice to me when I did something wrong. You need to be nice to people like- friends,parents,God,your grandparents. I should be kind to people even when they are not nice to me! This is why I picked kindness.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2016 is kindness, because sometimes I forget to use kindness in my words, and I end up making someone feel bad. I also forget to use in my actions, and end up hurting someone. Actually hurt, not just in the inside, and I need to make that better. I think if I use kindness in my words and my actions, I will have a better character. That is why my one little word is kindness.

ReplyDeleteMy one little word is UP. I picked UP to remind me that if I succeed my goals in life to not just quit trying to succeed others, but to make my goals even higher. So I can learn to succeed not just little things but to succeed every goal. Even though UP is such a little word it means alot to me. I always try to remember to push up and away.
ReplyDeleteIf I was to choose one OLW, I would choose "enjoy".I choose "enjoy" because sometimes I find it hard to enjoy the little things around me. For example, I sometimes find it hard to enjoy spending time with people when things may not have gone my way. Also, sometimes, because I'm so used to my brother annoying me, I sometimes don't see when he does something nice to me. Another time, I was baking a cake with my friends when their parents corrected us on something. It got on my nerve, so it took me a while to start enjoying baking the cake with them again. I wish I had gotten over it quicker because I missed some pretty funny things that happened. I will use the word enjoy this year when things don't go my way.
ReplyDeleteConfidence is not a little word. It is big. Big in heart big in meaning. Confidence is when you believe in yourself. It is not easy to do that. A lot of people find it hard. Not only that. You're going to have to take chances. Think about it. If you don't try you will never achieve your goals. You have to be brave to have confidence. It means you can't quit what you have started. It means you don't shy away. It means you always keep going even when it's hard. That's what it is to be confident in yourself.

DeleteMy little word is positive. I would like to be very positive this new year. If I can be positive I might be able to reflect on others. That leads me to say that my next little word should be leader. I will try to be a leader all my life now. My little words mean alot to me.
ReplyDeleteFor my OLW I chose joy because I can always find joy in my friends, family, and more. I have bad days sometimes, but I always find joy from loved ones. When you i'm down I find joy in all that God has created for us. There are so many blessings around us. I find joy as avery strong word!
ReplyDeleteI moved into my new house almost three months ago. Though we are still adapting to it. There has been a lot of construction going on in our house lately. They are almost finished but still have some left to do. After that, we still have a little left before the house is fully done. I have been adapting to not only the house but the new neighborhood. In the new neighborhood we are able to ride bikes and walk up and down the streets. Our house will hopefully soon be done. But right now we are still adapting to our house.
ReplyDeleteMy word for 2016 is inspire because last year my swim coach inspired me with all the things she accomplished, so I hope I can do the same! When someone is hurt or feeling bad you can be an inspiration to them a brighten their day. When I look forward at the year ahead I see lots of goals if I can accomplish those goals I feel I can be an inspiration to someone I know. I hope that I achieve all those goals, but most of all I want to help someone in need.
ReplyDeleteThe word I selected for 2016 is Confidence.Confidence is not a little word it is a big word. Confidence is when you believe in yourself, and tell yourself you can do it. It's not always easy doing that though. A lot of people find that having confidence is pretty hard. Not only having confidence is hard you will have to take some risks. Think about it,if you never try to improve you will never achieve your dreams. To have confidence you really have to try. So you always have to tell yourself that someday, you will achieve your dreams even though that it is not easy achieving your dreams. Once you achieve your dreams, you will be proud of yourself, and now you know that you have confidence in yourself. You have to really try and know that you will achieve your dreams someday.You can never tell yourself that it is to hard to achieve your dreams because you know that it will happen some day.

ReplyDeleteMy one little word for 2016 is joy. I chose joy because you always need to have joy inside you. For some people it comes naturally to them ,but others have a hard time. When you have joy inside you others are happy to. Sometimes people are grouchy and mean and don't care about others. But the ones who do have joy can make a few people bright and there day can be amazing.Joy brings bright and happy people to the world.That is why I chose the word joy.

This one word is a whisper but a yell, a ripple but a flood.This one word has so much value and meaning.In 2016 and the years to come, I truly want to follow God and do his will. I will do my best to trust in his plan and have faith in his mighty abilities. I will let his holy hands guide me through life. But this word is not only for me, it is a message to everyone else who truly believes in God. This one word disciple, can make an impact on someone. This year I hope to make one disciple of Christ so that someone else can bask in the glory of God. In 2016,I will let this beautiful, holy word guide to became a fisher of men, a disciple.

I feel like sometimes I am not the kindest to people and I would like to work on that.I feel like if I am kinder to people then that would lead to a great year. I love trying to be nicer because it is fun to do the experiance. I just don't want to go back to the way I was.

ReplyDeleteMy word would be accept because I just need to accept my life and it's ups and downs. I have been asking for every thing and then I go back for more. And I "need" every thing to be my way,but if it's not perfect I make a big deal about it. So accept would be perfect.

I choose this word because I probably need to use it more. I think we all do, I don't know about you but i'm a total couch potato! I probably need to, well, move more.\

DeleteWait, Stop, Think! Think and stop. Do you really want to hurt someone's feeling? "NO."So before you say anything stop and see if it is nice or if you think is ok and you say it difrently then you want and you hurt there feelings.So I want to be beeter adout that. When you stop and think you are working on being patient and that is something else I want to work on. The word stop can mean, stop and help someone.That is one of my New Year Resolution for 2016.
ReplyDeleteI chose the word fun because how would you live in this world, if you had no fun. If you had fun you can play tag, climb trees, and do so much more. I can also play on, VIDEO GAMES!!! You can play outside and if you want to be a boss play outside in the rain, like a boss. It it so fun and awesome to start a new day and to be a boss you can drink coffee, like a boss.
