Counter Argument: Show me the Money!
Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Kids should be paid for making good grades.

Although kids should be paid for making good grades, some may argue that kids should be paid for actual work, not for making good grades. Doing yard work is actual work, and kids may use the money only on candy. However,Kids are as responsible as any grownup, and getting good grades is doing actual work. Kids should be paid for making good grades because they work very hard!

DeleteAlthough kids should get paid for good grades, some may think that is wrong. For example parents might think their kids really care about the subject they just want the money. But I think it would motivate the kids to learn a subject and they would get really good grades if they got money for working hard. Kids should totally get paid for good grades.

For example, some parents may think that their working working really hard on a subject but they actialy just want money. But I think if kids worked really hard and got money as a reward then they would be really happy.

For example they might think that their kid doesn't really care about the subject they just want the money. But I think earning money would motivate the kid to learn a subject. And they would have really good grades if they get paid for an A+! Kids should get paid for every good grade they make!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think kids should be paid when they make a good grade, others may disagree that kids aren't responsible enough. For example, kids are always leaving birthday money or allowance around the house. However, if the child takes the time and effort to study and prepare for the test, they deserve a special treat. Like Money! This is why I think that kids should get money if they get a good grade.

Kids don't have things to pay for besides toys they want and such. Also, grownups get paid because they have a family to raise and care for. However it would be very awesome to get paid. DeleteAlthough I think kids should get paid when they make a good grade, Others may think that kids don't need it or would spend it all in one day. Well guess what parents yall dont need it either. You came into this country and scared the daylights out of nature and indians and made poulton. so what I am saying is we "need" money just as much you do.

School can start getting more challenging. That is why kids should be paid if they do well on there work.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I think kids should be paid for making good grade. Some may argue that kids should only get praised and not paid. However if the kid got a bad grade you could take away his money, but if he got a good grade you could pay him one dollar. Kids don't want to do tests so if they get a good grade they should at least get one dollar. It's not like you're going to run out of money. Wouldn't it be great to get paid to have a good grade.

DeleteAlthough kids should be paid for getting good grades, some may argue that they should get paid for doing chores instead. For example, when you clean or do laundry, that is like working, and people get money for working. However, as you get older there are more things that you are not expected to know because they are more challenging, so if you get good grades then that means you are working harder, so you should get paid.

DeleteAlthough kids get payed. I think that kids should not payed. What would they do with the money. Parents need money for food and shelter but kids do not need money when they do good things or get good grades. If you get a GREAT grade on your test then you should get payed! That would be awesome!

However kids need money if they want something, but parents don't let them. Parents get to have whatever they want though because they do their "homework" and get money out of that whether there parents like it or not. In conclusion, kids should get paid for good grades because they work hard for them.

DeleteAlthough some people might think kids should paid for getting good grades, some might argue that they should have to work, because when they are older and need money they can't rely on their grades. Though if gave them money for getting good grades, that might make them try harder. That is why some people might think kids should get paid for getting good grades.

For example some people may think that since it is not an option for kids not to go to school, so they do not deserve money for doing something that they have to do. But I think that kids should get paid, because they work so hard to get good grades but they don't get anything, I think this should change. Because they spend most of their time trying to get good grades that they do not have any time to do anything else that is fun. They could use the money to go do something fun. I think it would be so much fun to have sometime to do something fun!
