Dear Writers,
In writing, we learned to improve our writing by presenting counter arguments in our essays. Today, I will give you a thesis statement for which you must write a counter argument paragraph. Remember a counter argument has the following structure:
Although (thesis statement), some may argue that (counter argument). For example,(evidence for counter argument). However, (evidence for your thesis). Closing sentencerestating your thesis.
Although I love ice cream, some may argue that cake is better. For example, cake is used for celebrations such as birthdays, weddings, and baby showers. However, one can have ice cream cake or cake batter ice cream for any occasion. I love ice cream because it is the most wonderful, versatile treat!
Now, it is your turn. Write a counter argument paragraph for the following thesis statement:
Children should be able to have a T.V. in their room.

children should have T.V. in their room. Some may say that they would stay up all night watching it. For example, the kid could act like he went to sleep and then turn on his T.V. But you could have a monitor in their room or the remote in the parents room, and the problems solved. This is why kids should have T.V. in their room.

DeleteChildren need more t.v. time. For example, some might think t.v. is bad but they're not true we learn very valuable info when we watch t.v.. However,if people just try t.v. they will see how awesome it is. T.V rules.

DeleteI think that I should have a lot more tv time in the week, because when you are done studying you can go watch ESPN in your room. You can watch ESPN all night till you get tired! TV is awesome!

DeleteChildren should have tvs in their room, but some may argue and think the kids will stay up all night. They won't because they need to get rest and they will turn it off at a certain time that is why I think kids should have a tv in their room.

For example, children might stay up really late watching T.V., and they might hear a bad word or see something inappropriate without parent supervision. However, having a T.V. in your room because you wouldn't have to fight over the T.V. I think having a T.V. in my room would be peaceful.

However, Kids might not be able to get to sleep and might need to calm down a bit. That's why I think kids should have a TV in there room.
ReplyDeleteI think kids shouldn't have a TV in their room, but some say that kids should. For example, lots of kids say they won't watch it all day, but they end up watching it for hours each day. Not having a TV in your room is a big help if you share a room with a sibling, because you will start arguing about it. I think that not having a TV in your room is a great idea! :)

However kids may be really excited and can not go to sleep, so they need to calm down a bit. That's why I think kids should have a TV in their room.

For example, there might be really bad words or inappropriate shows or that it might rot your brain. However, when the kids would get up in the morning they wouldn't bother the parents they would let them sleep. That is why I think kids should have a T.V. in their room.

DeleteI think that kids should have a t.v. in their room. Now parents my think that having a t.v. in child's room is crazy and, it would keep them up all night. I would have to agree with part of that but, when I am watching t.v. at night, although it might be crazy, I usually go to sleep pretty fast while watching t.v. If we also had a t.v. parents would not have to stay up with us at night. They could go to bed. I really don't think that it is that big of a deal that a kid could have a t.v. in their own room. Even though parents have their own opinions I think I should have a T.V. in my room.
ReplyDeleteI think having a t.v. in your room would be awesome, but some would say it's not good for your brain and you should read a book instead. However, it would a lot calmer because you wouldn't have to hear you little sisters yelling,"I want to watch dora!" And the other one saying, "I don't want to watch that!' Kids should have a t.v. in thier rooms. It would be so much more calm.
