I think that Mother to Son should win the championship game because it tells everyone a great life lesson; Even though you might have life planned out for yourself and it doesn't go your way, God will always have your back and keep you upright. I also think that it was great how the poet used a southern accent but yet still made it rhyme.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to Rodger the dog because when I don't feel very well, I will not even move. I am just like Rodger when the poem mentions that he his to lazy to do things, I won't even come out to eat! Rodger the Dog is a great connection poem for both me and my family.
I like Mother to Son the best because of it's great writers craft. My favorite part in it was when the mother was telling her son, "Life ain't been no crystal stair." This poem also had a great rhythm and rhyme scheme. The imagery was fabulous. I could just see the mom sitting with her son on the porch and they both are looking at each other. It was very inspiring to read this poem, and hope that different people will enjoy reading it too.
I think Roger the Dog should win the championship game because it is a funny story about a dog that only eats and sleeps. It is a hilarious poem about a fat dog that does not exercise.

I like Roger the Dog best because of how funny it is and it is very humorous. I absolutely LOVE this poem I think it is the best one that is why it should be the champion.

I think Rodger the dog should win because I think it's funnier and it reminds me of my dog. I can connect to Rodger the dog because My dog can act really really lazy like Rodger. I like Rodger the dog better because it's funnier, I can connect to it too, and I just flat out like it better.

I liked Mother to son more imagery and the way the mom talked and how the poet made her sound very southern. The imagery was great because I can imagine the mother talking to her son. That is why I think Mother to son should be our winner.
I think that Mother To Son should win the championship because I love the way it sounds like the son’s mother is talking to her son and giving him advice. For example, “life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.” The mother is telling her son about her past, and to not let life get in the way of things.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to Roger The Dog because I like the way that Roger is different than a lot of other dogs. Most dogs like to run around and play. (like one of my dogs) Some dogs just like to get attention and are super sweet. (like my other dog) I can connect to Rogers way of doing things because most dogs have just one quality that Roger has, like eating. But Roger has a bunch of laziness qualities put together.
My favorite poem is Mother To Son because when I read that poem I always get a cool mental image inside of my head. For example, I get a picture of a mother sitting in a chair by a fire and her son is sitting next to her, the mother is telling her son about life.
I think Mother To Son should win because this poem really touches the heart of anyone who reads it. It also teaches a good lesson: To charge through life, even if things are tough. And, we must always remember that God has it all planned out for you. I really also liked the flow of the poem and the unique rhymes.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to Roger The Dog because when I feel tired or sick, I am a Roger! I don't want to move and I am very lazy. Roger The Dog also remixes me of my dog, Davis, and I guess that is why I like it so much.
I liked Mother To Son because of the flow and the writer's craft. My favorite part is when the mother is telling her son that "Life aint no crystal stair." I also like how she uses her own words to say, "It's going to be ok, son. My life was hard too." This poem also really had a good imagery. I could really picture a mom, sitting in a beat up old house, on the sofa with her son after a bad day. She is telling her son her own experiences with life and that it won't always be easy. That is really why I loved this poem.
I think that Roger the Dog should win the championship! I think it because I sometimes want to lay down and do nothing the whole day. But if you lay down the whole day you will miss out on all the fun. It is also a really silly poem. I can connect wit Mother to Son the best because my mom has told my sister plenty of times that life is not as easy as you think people aren't always going to be nice to you. I liked Roger the Dog's rhyme scheme. I thought it was AABB. I could also imagine my dog never wanting to get up.
ReplyDeleteI think that mother to son should win, because it has a very powerful meaning. It is saying that Life will not always be easy.(life ain't no crystal stair.) It is also a good lessen to learn and teach that God has it all planned out for you.
ReplyDeleteHowever I can connection more with roger the dog because Sometimes I feel tired and want to be lazy as a dog. What I do not like is that is that it is not sending out a meaningful message. I mean sure not to lazy is a good message but it it not as sweet as mother to son.
I like mother to son because of the flow and writes craft. My favorite part is how she says life is no Crystal stair. I also like how you can image it really well. I imagine a mother sitting in small broken down house and she is putting him to bed on a tiny bed in the middle of the living room,kitchen, and bathroom.
Another way I could imagine it was a slave telling her little boy this before they are going to pulled apart from each other.
Roger the Dog should absolutely win because it puts a smile on my face and has great rhyme scheme. I thought it was something like AABB. I can imagine me (or my dog) doing the same thing!

Both poems were great and fun but in the end, Roger is the one who won(Hey that rhymed!)
I think that mother to son should win the championship because it had more meaning. The meaning was to never give up even when the going gets tough. I really loved the way that the author tells you the message. A mother telling her son to never give up. I really loved this poem.

I really enjoyed mother to son a lot. I loved how it sounded southern, like in the line " life ain't been know crystal stair." it really sounded southern. The southern accent made it sound like it had a rhyme scheme even though it doesn't rhyme. I really loved this poem and I really hope it wins.
Choosing Mother to Son was easy for me because I liked it the best . I can relate to Mother to Son because I had some obstacles to over come with my Dyslexia. I really like when the mother told the son to not give up. I like that in mother to son they have a southern accent. I also like how it is a real life experience.

ReplyDeleteI can connect to Mother to Son because my mom and I like to talk to each other about important things. She always tells me how the situation applied to her and then we discuss it. My mom is the best person ever to talk with and that is why I can connect to this poem.
I really like the repetition in this poem, "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair." I can infer from this line that the mother has come upon struggles in her life. I also like how the poet is writing the poem like it is a person speaking in a country accent. This is why I think that Mother to Son should win the championship.
I think Roger The Dog should probably win. I think this because it is a funny story about a dog that is very lazy. All he does is eat and sleep all day long and he uses all of his strength to eat. He doesn't even go outside and play with the other dogs or people. He just sleeps by the fire all day and night every day. I thought this was a very funny poem and made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to Roger The Dog because sometimes when I wake up in the morning I feel like I am a zombie because I am so tired. I also sometimes feel like staying inside and sleeping while everybody else goes to school and work. During the winter I sometimes sleep by the fire if it cold enough. I can connect in another way because sometimes my dog lays around all day sleeping on his bed. Sometimes when I try to play with him he will just sit there and stairs at me.
I think the writers craft of Roger The Dog better then Mother To Son. I think this because the author made you imagine Roger laying by the fire and sleeping all day and night. The author also made a great rhyme scheme for the whole poem and they rhymed really well.
I think Mother To Son should win the CHAMPIONSHIP because it had a lot more details and the poem really warmed my heart. Also it's about a mother telling her life isn't easy he just needs to prepare for the bumpy ride ahead of him which really made me like the poem better.
ReplyDeleteI can connect to Roger The Dog because it is about a dog who is a boring, old, lazy dog who doesn't do any thing but eat, drink, and sleep and sometimes that is all my dog does but the boy in the poem keeps on loving his dog and so will I even if she gets old.
My winner was MOTHER TO SON. I liked how the author compared life to crystal stairs. Maybe it did not rhyme like Roger The Dog it was still the best poem to me.
I think that Rodger the Dog should win the Championship because when I close my eyes, I can totally see Rodger resting by the fire and pretty much never moving and will only move when it is time to eat. I can also relate to this poem because my dog loves to sleep!

I really think that Rodger should win because I like how I can connect to it and I also liked that it is a poem about a lazy dog. Rodger should also win because the poet is saying that you should not be lazy and you should get up and enjoy life. That is why I think that Rodger the Dog should win the Championship Game.
I think the poem Roger The Dog should win the championship because the poet's craft is great, and I have a dog a lot like Roger. I also think that Roger is funny and that the old fellow deserves to win. I liked the poet's craft because the poet put in lots of funny rhymes in the poem. ReplyDeleteI can connect to the poem Roger The Dog because my dog is a lot like Roger. I hear him wheeze with ease, I see that he is a sack of snoring dog, and I can lug him like a log just like the owner in the poem. I sometimes wish that he could play but I know he just can not do it. I think of my dog the same way as Roger's owner but I still love him.
I liked the poet's craft more in the poem Roger The Dog because the poet put funny rhymes in the poem. The poet put rhymes in like, "you can roll him him with your foot, he'll stay snoring where he's put," and "then flops flat, and digs down deep, like a miner, into sleep." That is why I like the poet's craft in Roger The Dog.
Also an example of the the mother compared her life to a set of stairs is, 'Life for me ain't been no crystal stair. It's had tacks in it, and splinters, and boards torn up,'

I can make a connection with Roger the dog because my dogs are lazy too, and sometimes, they won't do anything other eat and sleep.

Mother to son is a good poem because a mom is telling her son to never give up. I feel my mom tells my sister and me this all the time. Even when I think things may be hard, like cleaning my room, I realize that there are much harder things out there. The poem reminds the child that life is tough and hard, but to never give up. I also think this mom wants her son to have a better life than hers.
ReplyDeleteRoger the dog is so funny to me. It is about a dog who is lazy. All he does is eat, sleep and play. Sometimes I wish I was a dog. The poem reminds me so much of my dog Disco who has died. The poem brings back good memories.
Roger the dog is my favorite poem because it makes me happy to think of my dog Disco and I can really picture all the dog does in this poem.
I think Roger The Dog should win the championship. It should win because it was a funny poem about a dog who is very lazy. All Roger does is just sleep all day and night and he uses all of his energy to walk to his food bowl. Also, Roger doesn't play with other dogs or even people. Another reason that I connect with Roger The Dog is because when my dog is really tired he goes in my living room and sleeps.
