One Little Word
Each new year, two of my cyber-mentors challenge teachers to find their One Little Word (OLW). The OLW is one word that will represent, or symbolize, the year ahead. The word should be personal and thoughtful. My mentors spend weeks thinking about their OLW, making sure they select a word that will really guide them.
I have thought a great deal about my OLW. For 2015, I selected "trust" as my One Little Word. I selected "trust" because I don't always trust God's plan and try to make my own way. I need this word to remind me to trust not only His plan for me, but also to trust in the strengths and talents He has blessed me with, rather than worry about the future. Trust can apply to my life in so many ways - through friends, work, my students, my family, myself, and ultimately, God's plan for me. I will use this word to guide me through the days of 2015.

My one little word or OWL is healing because I have got hurt before and all my friends helped me up and get band aids. I haven't done this to a lot of people and so I thought this could be my word. I would help people if they got injured. I would help them if they fell and no one helped them up. That's why healing is my word.

ReplyDeletepray:Pray is the word I am using because praying more is something I need to do more. I have used praying a lot because of things that happen between my famliy.I will be able to pray when i'm troubled this year in 2015. I can pray when I need help or don't understand something that is happening.Praying is helpful to me when I am sad or lost in the world around us. Life has not been easy so far, and I know praying will help me find the silver lining in life
ReplyDeleteMy O-L-W is action.My life is full of action and I like to play games full of action.I also like to watch action things.This year I will try to do action games and watch things full of action.
ReplyDeleteMy word is next. I can use the word next by focusing on what is next instead of dwelling on the past. An example where the word next could apply in my life is when I lost my Grandfather. Instead of dwelling on it I can move on. Knowing that he is in a better place.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW is trust. I need to trust God through tough times by praying. I pray that everything will be all right. All I have to do is trust that he will be with me. That helps me through the hard times. That's why my word is trust.

I believe this little word can help me in a lot of ways.This applies to my life because I feel I need more faith and I need to believe in myself more.This will guide me because if I believe in myself, I can do more things then I can now and I can complete more work. If I just believe in myself that I can do it, then I can do more things then I ever dreamed I could do.

DeleteMy one little word or OWL is persevere. This word applies to my life in many ways. This year in fourth grade, I have had a lot of things going on including, friends, activities, and school. It is really hard to persevere through these things. I have to worry a lot about everything. This year I will try to persevere on everything.

DeleteMy one little word is serve. For example when somebody does not know what to do you could help them learn how to do it.This word word means to help and give to others. I have been served before and it really helped me.I think serving is a good way make new friends.
ReplyDeleteMy o-l-w is kindness. I have a lot of kindness in my life. For example I am going to Haiti for spring break to help the kids who don't have as much as we do. But I still need to work on my kindness too!!!

DeleteMy one little word is believe, because I have been through lots of scary times, and I have had to believe that God would help me get through it. Also sometimes I'm scared of things, and I have had to believe in myself to overcome those fears. For example, not too long ago my flight home got canceled and I believe that God would help me and my family get home safely.

DeleteMy OLW is accomplish. I chose this word because it is good for ALL of us to think of GOALS to ACCOMPLISH! It is good for us because it makes us be a better person. I could use my OLW, when I have a large task to complete, and I'm worried of stressed about it, so what I would do, is spread the task out on my time, making it a GOAL to ACCOMPLISH! :)
ReplyDeleteMy one little word in faith. This word is special to me because if you do not have faith in yourself you won't succeed. Lets say you were in a crash or something, you have to have faith in God and the people that are helping you. I do not always have faith in my parents and my friends. You should always have faith in God because he has a path for you, that you will follow. So that's why I would like that to be my ONE SPECIAL WORD. Another word you should have is joy because Joy is not like when little kids spend money just to spend it. It is something that if you have you should well be joy full for it.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is smile. Smiling is very important to me because, when I frown no one talks to me, but when I smile everyone talks to me. Another little word is joy. Having joy is important to me because it reminds me of all the wonderful things I have. Another little word is strength. Strength is important to me because every time I make a mistake, I have to have strength and trying again.

My word is happy because I need to be way happier. Every time my sister or brother annoys me, i'm grumpy for the rest of the day. Instead of being grumpy I can be happy still.
ReplyDeleteMy One Little Word or O.L.W is enjoy.I think that I should learn to enjoy everything a little more. For example, I could enjoy things such as today, tonight, friends, life, family, and more I hope that I can enjoy things more in 2015!

DeleteMy One Little Word is grit because I need grit to get through challenges. One example of when I can have grit is when my grandmother starts to forget more things about me and my family. Grit will be a great quality to have when this happens. That is why grit is my word.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is embrace. I picked embrace because embrace means to accept something even if it is hard to except. For example, when my dog Lewis passed away, I was very sad, but I had to embrace the situation and know that he is in a better place now.
ReplyDeleteMy OLW is sparkle. I want to sparkle more. For example, I need to try and remember fitting in is not everything. My other OLW is try. For example, at gymnastics, I always think try harder. It helps me a lot! :)

DeleteMy one little word is happy. I think it is very important to be happy and not sad all the time. It makes me feel better when I am happy. A time I can be happy is when I am doing something I love like playing outdoors with my brother. and that is why happy is my word!
ReplyDeleteMy "Little Word" is embrace because sometimes somebody says something mean or does something hurtful, and I will stay calm at school but when I get home, I get upset about what happened, and I do not forget for a while. Dad says that I need to move on and let it go. Sometimes you need to let it slide and move on. It will make my life much easier when I learn to embrace the future. I
ReplyDeleteMy O-L-W is "today." My word is "today" because sometimes I look forward too much to what is going to happen tomorrow that I don't focus on what is happening today. I will enjoy today and tomorrow...when tomorrow comes!
ReplyDeleteMy O-L-W is believe. I picked believe cause it means to believe you can do anything. I can do this by believing in my friends to keep a secret or believing in them to good.
ReplyDeleteMy one little word is Believe because believe means to have faith in all that you do. I believe that I can be a Country Music singer. I believe that if I practice every single day that I have a possibility that it will come true but I have to have faith and believe that I can do it.
ReplyDeleteMy one word is faith. I picked it because on my mom's Birthday they found out that my grandmother had cancer. She lived a long life. She took me and my 2 sisters to Disney World. I had faith in my grandmother.
