Dear Readers,
You have learned how to compare and contrast different topics like apples and oranges; boas and pythons; TV or no TV (gasp!). Next, I would like you to take it a step further and compare and contrast your reading. You may choose two storybook characters and tell me how they are similar and different. Be sure to include text evidence in your response to back up your opinion. Please read my example below. I look forward to your comments!

Harry Potter from the Harry Potter Series and Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson Series, are two very well-know storybook characters. Harry and Percy are similar because they are both young boys who face great dangers, and demonstrate courage. They both battle forces greater than themselves, but triumph in the end. Also, they are both characters from popular book series.Harry and Percy both have the help of their friends like, Hermione and Annabeth to help them along the way. Although Harry and Percy are alike, they also have some significant differences. For example, Harry is an orphan, but Percy's mother is still alive. Harry deals with the world of wizards and Percy lives in a world of Greeks Gods and myths. I find both characters to be interesting and unique. I enjoy reading about their adventures.
My characters are Percy Jackson from the Percy Jackson series and Harry Potter from the Harry Potter series. Both of these characters are similar because they are both about 12 years old, they both have black hair, and they go stop monsters.They do have some difference For instance, Percy lives in a world with Greek gods an myths, and Harry lives in a world of witch craft and wizardry. Harry can make and craft spells, while Percy can Control the Seas (being a son of Poseidon). They are both well known characters from two well Known series. I have really enjoyed reading both of the series.

DeleteHarry Potter and Ron are great characters. Harry is smart, but Ron can get confused at times. Harry's parents died when he was a baby, so he lives at his mean mugal uncle's house. Ron lives with his 5 brothers in there parents house. Harry and Ron both are wizards and go to Hogwarts.Harry and Ron are alike and different in many ways.
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter and Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter series are alike in many ways. For example, they both go to Hogwarts (of Witchcraft and Wizardry) and are both the same age. They both also like to play quidditch. They are also different in many ways. Harry is nice while Draco is mean. Harry has glasses but Draco doesn't. Also, Draco has parents and Harry is an orphan.

DeleteGandalf and Saruman are both dire enemies from the Lord of the Rings. They both are stealthy and strong, and incredibly old. They are both wizards which means they have magical powers. Saruman is secretive but Gandalf tends to be more open. He talks also talks to many people and helps them. Gandalf travels all over Middle-Earth but Saruman stays in the Tower of Orthanc. Saruman betrayed the white council at their most dire need but Gandalf stayed with them all the way through. Gandalf serves the Valar but Saruman serves Sauron. Gandalf's hard work payed off and he defeated Saruman.
ReplyDeleteThe characters that I picked are Korie and Missy Robertson from the book The Women of Duck Commander. Korie and Missy are mostly the same, but they do have some differences. For example, one of the differences is that they married different Robertsons. Another example is that Korie has more kids than Missy does. Some of their similarities are they both married Robertsons, they both have kids, and they have both written books. Korie has adopted two of her 5 kids. Missy has 3 kids and one of them has a problem with her lower lip. I have enjoyed reading The Women of Duck Commander.
ReplyDeleteIn the book Because Of Winn-Dixie, Winn-Dixie and Opal are both very adventurous character's. They are both very playful. Opal found Winn-Dixie in a store one day and took him in. You might be wondering where he got the name Winn-Dixie The day Opal found him in a Winn-Dixie store. Opal was looking for some friends and as soon as she found Winn-Dixie she new that they would be friends forever. Winn-Dixie was not in good shape at all so Opal took him in and gave him more proper care.

DeleteThomas and Gally are both boys from the great book, The Maze Runner and they are similar in some ways and different in others. For example they both are gladers and they both get attacked and stung by greivers. Those are the things they have in common but they also have differences like how Thomas is nice because he not only helps himself but he also helps all of the gladers out of the maze while Gally only cares about him and his very little amount of friends. Also Thomas is very curious because he goes into the maze when he is not aloud while Gally on the other hand is a big rule follower and will do anything to make sure everyone is following the rules. Thomas is very fast for example he out runs a greiver in the maze and Gally is strong and tall, and I know this because he picks up a glader and throws him out of the rink in the glade. In my oppinion The Maze Runner is a great book and you should read it.
ReplyDeleteMy two characters are from the Baby-Sitters Club books. Their names are Kristy and Mary Anne. Mary Anne is very shy, sensitive, and quiet. But Kristy is very loud and outgoing. Kristy cares nothing about clothes, while Mary Anne is very sophisticated. Mary Anne has a very small family. Kristy's family is five times as big as Mary Anne's family. Kristy has a dog named Shannon and Mary Anne has a cat named Tigger. Even though they are different they are alike in many ways to! Kristy and Mary Anne both have brown hair and they both are short.They are both members of the B.S.C (baby-sitters club). They both go to the same school. Mary Anne and Kristy are best friends! I have really enjoyed reading this book series!

DeleteMargaret and Clementine are good characters in Clementine. Margaret is bossy but Clementine is fun. Clementine is in 3rd grade Margaret is in 4th grade. Margaret and Clementine both cut off there hair. They go to the same school. They both have siblings. Clementine and Margaret become good friends.
ReplyDeleteBen and Greg both are kids at school. They have some similarities like they both have caring parents, they both have a best friend, and they both have neighbors. But on the other hand they have a lot of differences like Ben is very athletic and Greg is a couch potato also Greg hates sports and Ben loves sports and not to mention Ben has a sports family and Greg has a lazy family Ben is an only child while Greg has three siblings.
ReplyDeleteJack and Leo are in "I survived" books. They both go to school. They both have grate parents. Jack loves football. Leo doesn't. They both do have some similarities too. They have a big problem in all the books. if They were in the same book they would be a good time.
ReplyDeleteMy characters that I am comparing are Hermione and Ron from The Harry Potter series. Hermione and Ron are both great characters. They are both wizards. Hermione is very smart and enjoys homework, and Ron needs help with his homework and does not enjoy it. Ron is a boy, and Hermione is a girl. Hermione has lots of classes. As for Ron, he has as little classes as possible. Hermione and Ron are also alike even though they are different. They are both good friends. They are both smart in different ways. They are both in Griffondoor. They are brave.Lastly, Ron and Hermione will fight against Voldamort anytime they need to.
ReplyDeleteThe two characters I chose were Chris Paul and Alan Williams from the book Teammates Matter, are two very amazing athletes. Alan and Chris are similar because they are both point guards at Wake Forest University. They both have a spot on the team. Alan and Chris are different for example Alan is a walk- on and Chris got a scholarship. Chris starts and Alan sits on the bench to start the game. Also Chris play in the NBA and Alan doesn't.
ReplyDeleteGinny Weasley and Hermione Granger are two great characters from the Harry Potter Series. Hermione and Ginny are similar because They are both witches that are educated at Hogwarts. They are also both in the House of Gryffindor and are Harry Potter's good friends (Ginny even ends up as Harry's girlfriend, at one point). Hermione and Ginny are also different in many ways. For example, Ginny lives in the wizarding world and has a wizarding family, where as Hermione lives in the Muggle world and has Muggle parents. Ginny is one year younger than Hermione. Hermione and Ginny are both very smart but Hermione is prepared for everything. Ginny is also Ron Weasley's little sister and is a great Chaser on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Another fun fact about Hermione and Ginny is that they can both produce a Patronuce Charm. I love reading the Harry Potter Series.

ReplyDeleteBrian is from the book Hatchet, and Percy is from the book Percy Jackson. The two characters are so alike and different because Percy shows his Power in performing magic but Brian shows his power by performing his great intelligence. They are both alike because they are both on hard missions to survive. A big reason that they are different is because Brian lives in a modern day place but Percy lives in a world of Greek gods. These characters inspire me because they are both kids that have enough power to get past the worst things that could come to them. Percy is older, taller, and has darker hair but Brian is smarter, and faster. Both these characters have a certain confidence boost. Percy wants to save his mom from the under world but Brian wants to get back to his safe mom. And that is how my two characters are so alike and different.
My characters are Bryon from the book The Watsons go to Birmingham and Carter from the book Stranded 3 Survivers. One way my characters are alike are they are both the biggest and strongest people in there family. Another example is they are both mean to their younger bothers but get nicer as the story goes on. They also have at least 1 brother and 1 sister . One way my characters are different is Bryon is the oldest while Carter is the 2nd oldest. Another example is Bryon is a really bad person and Carter is pretty good person. Bryon dosen't care about his family but Carter loves his family. The last way is Carter has 3 siblings and Bryon has 2. I loved reading both of these books.
ReplyDeleteCricket from Teacher's Pet and August from Wonder are two of my favorite characters and are alike in many ways. Both August and Cricket are kids and go to school. They both have sisters and have trouble with friends at school. They both are eager to go to school and they are both very smart.But, August and Cricket are different in ways too. Cricket is in 4th grade and can be stuck up. But August is in 5th grade and is very humble. August gets teased on how he looks but Cricket is popular and does not get teased. August has a dog named Honey but Cricket doesn't even have a dog at all. Cricket is snooty and always tries to be the teacher's pet. While August tries to impress the teacher, he is kind and humble. These are all the ways these characters are alike and different. I really enjoy reading both these books and I hope you will get to read them, too.
ReplyDeleteMy characters are Nicholas Pappas from St. Nick and Mr. Popper from Mr. Poppers Penguins. They're alike in many ways. They are both not children, and they both like kids. They both have been maried. Even though they are alike in many ways they still are very different like Mr. Popper is a painter, and Nicholas or Nick is a suspended cop. Mr. Popper is kind of crazy, even though Mr.Popper has pet penguins, Nick doesn't have any pets, and finally Nick works at a mall. I think both of these books are great.
ReplyDeleteThomas is from the "Maze Runner" and Percy from the "Percy Jackson Series".They both are very brave and have a lot of problems.Percy has to fight off aliens while Thomas has to deal with people testing and trying to use him.Thomas and Percy have other things to worry about like sicknesses and defending their home.Percy and Thomas have very interesting journeys and battles.
ReplyDeleteMy characters are Tim Tebow from Through my eyes and Michael Jordan from Dream Team. Some ways my characters are alike is that they were both great athletes. They both played sports and are both retired. Some differences are Michael Jordan played basketball and Tim Tebow played football. Michael Jordan went to the Olympics and Tim Tebow never went to the Olympics. Michael Jordan only played one sport and Tim Tebow played more than one sport. I loved reading both of these books.

Percy fights Greek monsters while Thomas is used as a lab rat by WICKED. Both go on big adventures and are main characters. Also both have companions like Minho and Grover.
ReplyDeleteWinnie, from the book Twelve, and Annabelle, from The Doll People, are like “polar opposites”. While Winnie is a human girl, Annabelle is a doll girl. Annabelle is over 100 years old, but in doll years, she is only 8. Winnie is 12 in human years. Both girls have best friends, but only Winnie has a boyfriend. Winnie lives in a human home, However, Annabelle of course, lives in a dollhouse. Both girls are smart and kind, and I look forward to reading other books in their series’.
ReplyDeleteThomas and Alby are two characters from the Maze Runner. They got brainwashed and put into a maze. Thomas wanted to be a runner and explore the maze. Alby is the leader. The one thing everybody wants to do is go home. But they don't know who their family is. Alby is very stuck-up and nobody likes him. Thomas is bad at making friends but he still has some. I think Thomas is brave because he has to fight off monsters. Alby has to control himself when his body starts taking over him. Both of these characters really interested me.

They have a little bit in common like they are both boys, both the only child, and they both go to school. They also have a lot of differences too.Danny lives in a caravan , he lives with one other person, and he only has a dad. Charlie lives in a house, he lives with more than more than one person, also he has a mom and dad. Danny and Charlie have a lot of differences and some things in common.

DeleteIn the book Wonder August ans Summer have a lot of similarities, but could not be more different. August and Summer both go to the same school and both have "summer names". Also they both have a hard time making friends. August is bullied, but Summer has some friends. Summer tries to fit in, but August is so different. He can not fit in no matter how hard he tries. Summer is herself even if other think that she is weird. August would do anything to fit in. August is very shy, but Summer is very out going. As you can see August and Summer are very different.
ReplyDeleteMy two characters are Louie Zamperini and Sgt Dick Winters witch are in the books Unbroken and Band of Brothers. There similarities are they are both high ranked in the military. They both fought in word war two and both surviving veterans.On the other hand Louie Zamperini flew bombers and was an Olympic runner. Dick Winters was a Sargent until his general was shot in action then he became general also he was a infantry man . I have loved reading these books.
ReplyDeleteMy characters are Amanda and Molly from the book Dish. They are both two characters that have their differences and similarities. Amanda and Molly are similar because they both are loving, caring, and determined twins. They both have dark hair and love to cook. Also they are both in charge of a small cooking business with their friends, called Dish. Amanda and Molly both have friends that are in Dish with them. Peichi, Natasha , and Shawn. Although Amanda and Molly are alike, they also have some differences. Amanda is a girly girl who likes to dress fancy and keep it low key. Amanda also loves to act and be a member of Dish. Molly on the other hand, is the exact opposite of Amanda. Molly likes to wear shorts and T-shirts. Molly is very sporty and loves to play outside. All in all Amanda and Molly are both great characters.
ReplyDeleteMy characters are Alex from the Land Of Stories and Abby from the Whatever After Series. Alex and Abby are two totally different girls with totally different personality's. Abby has normal friends and lives in a normal house with a normal house.Alex is a normal girl too, but magic runs through her family, and she doesn't know. They both find a magic portal in their house and of course the go through. Alex has magic in her blood and is not totally normal. Abby is totally normal, but just has a little secret. All and all they are both are great characters just being them selves.

ReplyDeleteI have a monkey and she is the best monkey in the world and he name is bailey. She is a really pretty monkey girl. Every body loves he. My monkey goes too school with me everyday. She loves to mess up the whole entire school. I love my monkey Bailey.

Well actually it means something for me. sticky means that he is a real trouble maker, and bananas means that he eats bananas all day long, and I would never see him without a banana in his hand. We would do everything together. We would go to the Zoo, we would drink Red Bull all day long. We would also make fun of all the monkeys stuck in the Zoo. We would also go to space and swim in space water and watch space movies. At night we wouldn't go to bed we would eat bananas. In my opinion would have the best monkey ever.
