Readers,
As a voracious reader, I love discussing books with other lovers of literature. I have joined book clubs, emailed with friends, and sat down over many meals where the conversation turned to what everyone was reading. Books are a part of my life.
However, I have noticed I have certain friends who never fail to disappoint me with their EXCELLENT recommendations. I finally figured out why they are so great at this life skill ...
When recommending a book to me, they give a concise, precise summary of the book. Their summary consist of the main characters, the setting, and the problem and solution, otherwise known as, the plot. They use LITERARY ELEMENTS to explain what the book is about!
I would like for you to write a short summary about the fiction book you are reading, includingcharacters, setting, and the plot (problem/solution). Assume I have not read the book and be sure to edit your work.
Here is an example from Matilda.Matilda is a funny story about a young, brilliant girl living with her mean, ignorant family. Matilda puts up with her family by reading many books and forming a special bond with her teacher, Miss. Honey. Matilda helps her teacher and school against the evil headmistress Ms.Trunchbull by putting her special talents to use.

ReplyDeleteI am reading a book called Guardians Of Ga'Hoole. In the first book, a young owl called Soren is taken from his home and put into a small orphanage called St. Agatha's. He meets a small friend named Gylphie; a screech owl. He dearly misses his family, but he enjoys the new experience.
ReplyDeletethe book I read was called diary of a wimpy kid by jeff kenny and it was funny first greg found a bike to go to the pool and it was by the trash wondering why well it was broken but it didn't look like it and it broke when he was half way there.

ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is My Life In Pink And Green. The book is about a girl who's mom and grandma owns a pharmacy, and the pharmacy's business is not doing so well. So the girl named Lucy trys to help the pharmacy by sighing a grant that means your business will go green, also the grant will help you expand!

Today I read "Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Hard Luck". It is about a kid named Greg who has a best friend named Rowley that was the last person Greg thought would get a girlfriend, but he does, and Greg is getting left out. Will Greg get Rowley back?
ReplyDeleteLast night I read Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters. In this book Percy Jackson, the son of Poesideon is entering his second summer at the camp for half god half human kids, Camp Half Blood. When he gets to camp after playing a furious game of dogeball with cannonballs, there is trouble. The trouble is that a bronze bull is getting through the barrier at camp. The one that ends up saving Percy from getting burned and crushed by the bull, is his wimp friend who is a cyclops that is super strong and fireproof. I can't wait to read more tonight.

ReplyDeleteI read Everything Big Cats by National Geographic. It's a amazing book that has everything about big cats.And even some fun activity .It has facts to make you purr and info to make you roar!!!!
I was reading navy seal guide it tells you everything about the navy it tells you how to tie a not and how to use a gun and a bow and arrow even how to build a canoe did you know that a bullet travels faster than a millisecond in time and that you can even make a spear!!!
ReplyDeleteLast night I read The Lego Ideas Book. In this book I learned how to make plains, trains, and automobiles of all types. I also learned how to make all of your lego creations more unique. I learned how to make mosaics out of legos.

ReplyDeleteI read a book called "Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows. This book is about Harry, Hermione, and Ron going on a journey to find Horcruxes. Horcruxes are part of Voldemort's soul that they need to destroy to kill him. They also have to protect their school, Hogwarts. It is a HUGE task.

ReplyDeletelast night I read how to steal a dragons sword. Hiccup beat his father Stoick to be the king of the wilder west. But Snotlout hits his helmet and reveals the slave mark so he can't be king. But neither can stoick because your supposed to send the runts away,and he didn't. So Alvin the trecherous is the king dun...dun...dun.

Then they got into talking about how horrible it would be tomorrow because their cousins, that were very annoying were coming. Then the father tried to change the subject, but then all of the sudden, The family with then annoying cousins came in the door, and said, " We decided to come early!"

Hiccups best friend Fishlegs gets sick Hiccup and his dragon named Toothless and friend named camicazi have to go on a quest to save fishlegs.

The part I read last night was were fudge and his older brother peter missed last years school year and starting again. the first day of school was good for fudge because he found a new best friend and he was rich. peter was worried he was going to be called a new kid but no one cared. that's what I read last night.

ReplyDeleteI loved reading about frosen because it had the best opinions. I could acaly replay the movie in my head. I loved it because it had the best detales. My favorite caractre is Elsa. My opinion about her is that she is nice.
ReplyDeleteI think Sophie is brave because... When the BFG kidnapped her she didn't scream or cry! Also She stayed calm around the BFG when he first talked to her and she tried to outsmart him. When She got stuck in the BloodBottler's mouth she stayed calm and got away! When She went to catch dreams with the BFG the giants came over and bullied him and she was in his pocket the whole time barely scared! Plus, he has been living without her parents most of her life and that's really brave! I love this book!
